There’s a new all-corduroy fashion line out there called The Cords & Co, which is in the midst of rolling out seven dedicated corduroy stores globally. Speaking to The Evening Standard, founder Michael Söderlindh emphasized that he built an all-corduroy brand because the public is ready. “There are lots of brands that have done their take on corduroy but there has never been a brand that has completely dedicated themselves to it,” Söderlindh said. It sounds like an absurd, perhaps even improbable idea for a clothing line, yet here we are in 2017, at the cusp of embracing once-unfashionable cords all over again. According to Refinery29, in fact, “the corduroy comeback is in full swing.” Though its popularity has waxed and waned over the decades, the fabric certainly has its staunch devotees. Now, corduroy didn’t naturally start out in its gracefully tufted form. Why?

Barbie Zip Line Inspiration from Matt, John, and Jedidiah helped me shape my Barbie Zip Line task today. Whenever I prepare new tasks for my students, I have been trying to keep mathematical modeling, student ownership/creativity, performance tasks, and openness in the back of my mind. Magical Long-Exposure Firefly Photos Go Viral | Raw File Tsuneaki Hiramatsu knew something was up. It was the end of December and his amateur photo blog had suddenly jumped from a handful of visitors a day to thousands. The telephone customer service agent and hobby photographer was surprised. “I was like, what happened?!” says the 35-year-old Hiramatsu, who lives in Okayama City, Japan. What happened was that Hiramatsu’s long exposure and time-lapse photos of Japanese fireflies had started to go viral. On Dec. 18, the photos appeared on a Tumblr blog called Polaroid Dreams. Christopher Jobson, whose art and design blog Colossal got four million hits last month, was one of those who reposted the photos from Polaroid Dreams, furthering the viral spread. “I’d never seen anything like it before,” Jobson says. From there the photos continued to jump around the internet, popping up on countless other blogs as well as sites like My Modern Met and the website of the French newspaper Le Figaro. Nonetheless, it was Hiramatsu’s photos that took off.
