100 Ways to Simplify Your Life and Mind

After Armen’s list of 100 , my own 100 Ways to be a better leader and now several readers creating their own lists of 100 topics, I thought I would continue this trend and build one more on 100 ways simplify your life and mind. I’ve written a couple articles before on this topic and I’ve kept a few items from those articles on my list here, but most of this is new and it is really a useful way to find things to start doing. As with any of these 100 lists, obviously you can’t do all of these things (I certainly don’t) but you can pick some items on the list and start with them to simplify things in your life. Please consider sharing this article if you enjoy it and feel free to sign up for my RSS feed here. Simplify Your Actions 1. Simplify Your Stuff 30. Simplify Your Relationships 57. Raw Foods - Healthy Nutritious Recipes Are Processed Foods Pathogens? There is little doubt that eating raw food is much more beneficial from a nutritional point of view. This is primarily due to the fact that the enzymes in food break down when cooked at high temperatures. Enzymes in food aid with the digestion, when these enzymes break down the body has to produce it’s own enzymes to help with the digestion. If the body has to produce all the enzymes necessary to digest your food it puts a lot of extra burden on your pancreas and other organs. Stressing your adrenals like this is also one of the major causes of diabetes. There was a very interesting study conducted at the Institute of Clinical Chemistry in Lausanne in 1930. The Most amazing find though was that the same rule applies to ALL foods that have been processed, white blood cells are automatically produced, so again, not good. The best ways to eat cooked foods is lightly steamed, slow-cooked (in a slow-cooker is fine) or stewed.

50 Ways to Be More Humble SuccessJanuary 31st, 2011 Lists I’ve found are a great way to explore a topic, generate some interest in a subject and provide enough variety that it is not only quick to read, but quick to relate to many aspects. All this while hopefully adding some value to what is read in new ideas, unheard suggestions or simply by giving reminders of what might be known dead inside you already. I certainly find that in reading lists from other people. This was my most difficult list I’ve made after admiring sproutwatches.com and while I was hoping to make a list of 100 ways to be more humble, I really struggled coming up with unique ideas that didn’t have too much overlap and were not just a large list of different words or minor actions to be more humble. Please have a look at my short series from 2 years ago on being humble in the article pages here or from the free PDF download in my resources area, called, Being Humble. Artwork by Adam Stone

Delaying gratification is about worldview as much as willpower Willpower alone doesn’t explain why some children forgo a marshmallow in hand for the prospect of getting two gooey treats later. Kids’ beliefs about the reliability of the people around them, such as the trustworthiness of an experimenter, can dramatically shape their willingness to wait for a sweeter payoff, a new study finds. ANTICIPATION A young volunteer contemplates a tempting sugary treat during an experiment that tests her willingness to wait for a better reward. J. Expectations about whether it’s best to grab goodies before they disappear or trust that bigger returns will come later are as important to delaying gratification as self-control, say psychologist Celeste Kidd of the University of Rochester in New York and her colleagues. Children from stable families may reasonably assume that it’s worth it to wait for more treats in a lab task, Kidd proposes. Her team’s findings appear in a paper published online Oct. 9 in Cognition.
