Johnny Depp Faces Coruscate's rating: Disclosure In Brand Conversations We were recently introduced to CMP.ly, a service by which to transparently disclose your connection (if any) to the content you publish. CMP.ly aims to provide bloggers and advertisers with a set of easily identifiable disclosures and codes that can be used to identify any material connections in blog posts, tweets or other communications. The service can be used by accessing CMP.ly’s (free) standard disclosures, signing up for a CMP.ly account to use and manage custom disclosures, or by joining an existing marketing campaign. CMP.ly exists in response to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC)’s revised Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising – these now include blog posts, word of mouth campaigns and even Twitter messages. CMP.ly is meant to increase transparency at a time when brand conversations take place between both individual consumers and fans – and between professionals with a sometimes vested interest. CMP.ly

7 Fake Movies We Wish Were Real In a little over a month, the movie Machete will be hitting theaters. For those of you who don’t know, this movie originally started out as one of the fake trailers in the Grindhouse double feature released by Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez. However, the fake trailer was such a hit that fans demanded it be turned into a real movie. And soon, they’ll finally see their wish come true. It got us thinking. What are some other fake movies we’d love to see turned into real movies? 1. “Saw meets Godfather II” is how Christopher described his idea for Cleaver. The Sopranos writers took this fake movie storyline pretty far, producing an 8-minute making of Cleaver with behind the scenes footage for the “movie” starring Daniel Baldwin. 2. This fictional film is referenced several times throughout the Seinfeld series. 3. Let’s stay in the Seinfeld universe for another moment and visit another fake film that gets referenced throughout the series. 4. 5. 6. 7.

Advertisement If you happen to be one of the millions of Hotmail users who are having issues since the roll out of the new design, Microsoft has a fix for you: use Google’s Chrome browser. Honestly, we couldn’t make this up if we tried. According to The Register, many of the 350 million users of the service are having some nagging issues including disappearing messages and scripting errors on the page. Many are even experiencing a deeper issue of not being able to log in to their Hotmail account at all. In all fairness, Hotmail seems to work fine via Internet Explorer, but anyone using Safari 3 or Firefox 2 might have some serious problems. Are you a Hotmail user?

Medical Afflictions of the Cartoon Characters – Explained | moviesoddity.com Porky Pig – Parkinson’s Disease Porky Pig is a lovable hot tempered pig who first appeared as a minor character in a Warner Brothers cartoon. He has a trademark stutter that gets more pronounced as he gets agitated, which is guaranteed in any of his cartoon. Pending a medical examination, Porky would be a good candidate for a diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease. Those stricken with Parkinson’s tend to hold their stance as slightly bent at the knees and spine, with arms often akimbo. His rapid, barely intelligible speech and bent posture are known indicators of this disease. Olive Oyl – Anorexia Olive Oyl is best known as the rather fickle girlfriend of Popeye the Sailor. Speedy Gonzales – Amphetamine Addiction Speedy Gonzales is known as the fastest mouse in Mexico. Daffy Duck – Attention Deficit Disorder Although the exact symptoms of Attention Deficit Disorder can vary widely among patients, some of the most diagnosed symptoms are exhibited by none other than Daffy Duck. Eeyore – Narcolepsy

Brilliant Logos Big Ten Big Ten is an academic union which was founded in the year 1896. Until 1990, this union consisted of 10 universities, but in June 1990 Pennsylvania State University was added. Amazon.com This logo doesn’t seem to hide much at first sight, but it gives you a little insight in the philosophy behind the brand. Eighty-20 Eighty-20 is a small consulting firm. Fedex This is probably one of the best known logos with a hidden meaning. Continental Continental is a manufacturer of tyres. Toblerone Toblerone is a chocolate-company from Bern, Switzerland. Baskin Robins The old logo of Baskin Robbins had the number 31 with an arc above it. Sony Vaio Sony Vaio is a well known brand of laptops. Eight I really love this logo: every letter is made of the number 8. Carrefour Carrefour is one of the biggest European retailers, and it’s also French for “crossroads”. Roxy Unilever Unilever is one of the biggest producers of food, beverages, cleaning agents and personal care products. Northwest Airlines Tostitos

He couldn’t have chosen a worse time. The publishing industry, as it is today, was scrambling for a strategy for remaining lucrative in the face of the internet’s free-content revolution. Meanwhile, the global recession was about to strike. All signs pointed to imminent failure for the magazine. Adding to the challenge was the fact that, at $150 a year, Monocle is far more expensive than traditional glossy magazines. And yet, against impossible odds, Monocle has thrived. Monocle boasts a global circulation nearing 150,000, a 35 percent annual increase at a time when magazine sales are supposed to be going in the other direction, and a rising subscription base of 16,000. What accounts for Monocle’s unheard-of success? Monocle now has stores, and I hope they thrive as a sort of World General Store (they should hook up with Remo Giuffre in Sydney).
