Mac OS X Lion, /etc/hosts Bugs, and DNS Resolution | Justin Carmony Final Update: I’m working on a follow-up post, but thanks to all the comments, it seems that somehow during the Snow Leopard to Lion upgrade, the /etc/hosts file was encoded incorrectly (likely the type of newlines used), and that Lion would fail to read it properly. Please try to copy the contents of the /etc/hosts file, recreate the file, and paste to fix your problem. Update: I was still having problems with using .local for my development sites. After some extensive debugging and research I’ve found out some interesting things. It appears that Multicast DNS (mDNS), which is used in Apple’s Bonjuor for network discovery without a tradition DNS Server, has the Top Level Domain .local reserved for special mDNS functionality. Mac OS X will treat domains ending with .local differently! This article will still help you fix problems with /etc/hosts abnormalities with it not having the correct priority. [Rsolu] Configuration serveur dns avec bind9 Bonjour à tous, Je dois configurer un serveur dns sur une ubuntu-server. J'ai installé bind et suivi un tas de tutoriaux. J'arrive finalement à accéder faire fonctionner le serveur dns pour toutes les addresse de typexxx.toto.fr mais je n'arrive pas à le faire fonctionner pour les machines à l'intérieur du réseau.J'ai l'impression de me mélanger les pédales et de ne pas tout saisir alors que ça a l'air si simple... Voici ce que je veux faire:J'ai un serveur nommé margaux qui sert de serveur dns pour mon domaine toto.fr.Ce serveur est derrière une livebox.Mon sous-réseau est 192.168.1.xSur margaux quelques services tournent et doivent être disponible depuis le web. J'ai donc réussi à accéder à ces services depuis mon réseau interne ainsi que depuis le web. Mais dans ce sous-réseau, j'ai aussi des ordinateurs de bureau et une base de données oracle avec oracle comme nom de machine. oracle doit être accessible depuis le réseau interne mais pas le web. En effet, le décret dit explicitement « Lorsque l'arrêt de l'accès à une offre de paris ou de jeux d'argent et de hasard en ligne non autorisée a été ordonné, [...] les [FAI] procèdent à cet arrêt en utilisant le protocole de blocage [sic] par nom de domaine (DNS) ». Et il y a les résolveurs DNS. Si on veut censurer en France l'accès à un site de jeu en ligne, par le protocole DNS, c'est un bon endroit pour attaquer. Introducing Bootswatch | Thomas Park Although I spilled the beans in an interview yesterday, I wanted to formally announce a personal project called Bootswatch. It’s a collection of themed swatches that you can download for free and drop into your Bootstrap site. You can check it out at bootswatch.com. What’s Bootstrap Again? Bootstrap is a popular web framework made by some talented people at Twitter. As more and more sites adopt Bootstrap though, a growing issue is the uniformity between them. My goal with Bootswatch is to enable developers using Bootstrap to try on a new look, without investing much time or energy. So how do I use Bootswatch?
