Wanna make a dress??

Wanna make a dress??
i am PUMPED today! wanna know why? cause i’m gonna show you how to make quick, easy, and inexpensive dresses just like these! i know what y’all are thinking…no way that’s quick and easy. oh…you are SO wrong. it really is! i might even venture to say that its one of the easiest sewing projects i’ve ever done. go ahead…try it…and try to prove me wrong! i orginally found this brilliant idea here and was instantly motivated to try it. i did, however, change up some things along the way, such as making a long maxi dress, and one other thing in particular that will prevent a massive headache, so i’ll go ahead and post a tutorial here for you to see. i took the following pictures for the tutorial as i was sewing the long dress. i will make a note in each step where there is something different to do for the short dress. first things first…gather your supplies. all you need is a ribbed tank top and some coordinating fabric and thread. how cheap is that?? for the long dress: for the short dress:

Darling Dexter - Darling Dexter - Party Skirt I have been glued to my sewing machine for the past two days working on this little party skirt. I'm pretty pleased with the outcome -- I embellished it a bit and added a pleated hem, just a cute plum twirl skirt :) D.I.Y: Recycled T-Shirt Scarf // Gettin' Crafty! D.I.Y: Recycled T-Shirt Scarf 1} Gather a few old t-shirts you don't wear anymore; thrift them or buy new -- but choose thin, soft (preferably worn out) t-shirts. Find two t-shirts of different colors that go well together. V and Co how to: shag pillow *no animals or plants were hurt in the making of this project. *one really stupid person did get hurt in the making of this project, but she would like to mention that even though the needle penetrated...no swear words passed her lips. it's was a modern day miracle. i love how this pillow turned out. i made it in green for two reasons: 1. it's still kind of cold here, and still kind of brown...will be for a little bit longer so i wanted some GREEN and springy looking happiness in my home. 2. it's the only color of jersey i had on hand, and living in the middle of nowhere doesn't let me just jump in the car and go to a store that i can find jersey fabric at (which btw this fabric was found at jo-anns but i would suggest amazon if you can't find what you are looking for, that's where i get a lot of mine when i can't find stuff) now lets get started: cutting: *cut from jersey fabric 19 strips at 1 1/2" each.

DIY: High-Low Skirt The high-low skirt, also known by its more playful nickname the mullet skirt, is on-trend again this year and I couldn't be happier. While the skirt might have a funny name and a slew of "party in the front, business in the back" jokes associated with it, the skirt is no joking matter. With its figure-flattering cut and unique style, the high-low skirt has some fans in high places from Jason Wu to Marc Jacobs. The best part? With a sewing machine and a thrifted maxi skirt, you can make your own high-low skirt in just an hour. Tutorial: Adding an elastic neckline. Sometimes a wide neckline can be softened a little by adding an elastic gather. I think it gives it a more playful finish to the garment. Great for casual tops. But as always, it's very important to do it correctly. It's quick and easy so here's how to do it.

Sweetheart Ballet Tee Tutorial Here’s yet another way to spice up your t-shirts when you get a little bored with the plainness of them all. I did this a few weeks ago to two of my plain tees. I’m threatening to do this on all of the t-shirts I own. Seriously. Watch out! DIY Circle Scarf If you’re one of those people who needs a last minute Christmas present, a friend’s birthday is coming up, or you just would love a circle scarf, this tutorial might be awesome for you! I was so surprised when I went into American Apparel and saw their circle scarves for $34! I decided to figure out how to make one for way less, because I knew it would be super easy. One thing different from the regular tutorials out there is that I doubled up the fabric on my scarves.
