Printable Lacing Cards: Numbers 0-10 Featured Post SHARK bingo game [free printable] Totally coincidentally, my son has been reading a lot about sharks. I seized the opportunity to explore different species of these tooth... Weaving through a rainbow One of my favorite topics to explore in preschool is rainbows. Rainbows can be easily extended to all content areas of the classroom through amazing, creative, and fun opportunities. Today, I want to share with you how we explored rainbows with our whole bodies by weaving through a rainbow… We read one of my old favorites called, “A Rainbow of My Own” by Don Freeman.

Stellated dodecahedrons! Hello there. I seem to be stuck in a geometric-paper-model rut at the moment! I promise this will be the last one for a while! (I have just white-washed a lot of the walls in our home so I have been looking to make some colourful objects to hang up…these are just the job). Making stellated dodecahedrons is fairly time consuming and requires a light-touch and a fair bit of patience…so teenagers/adults only! (I would say that each one takes about 2 hours to make…but you can do most of it with your feet up in front of the telly). 3D Shapes Poem {Freebie} Thanks so much to each of you who commented on my last post about needing help with ideas for 3D shapes. I am going to try to implement lots of them this week. I also found a poem and made it a little more kinder friendly. I'll probably add it to our Reading Binders and try to recite it the rest of the week. Click on the picture below to download a copy for yourself. WARNING--Do not read the following statement if we're teetering on the edge of friendship, because I promise this will automatically put me in frenemy status for unnecessary grossness!

Bingo Stamping Jeux Stamping Games are basically the same game as a bingo game. These games are very versatile and can be used to practice both letters and numbers or even shapes. They can be made to fit the individual needs of your group or a specific student. Each game is blank, and you can quickly fill in the letters or numerals you decide to focus on. To prepare the stamping games, write a letter or numeral on each picture, and make a copy for each child.

Pattern Blocks Printable Do you have pattern blocks? They are pretty fun and have loads of educational potential. If you want to get a set here is an affiliate link to a nice 250 piece wooden set from Learning Resources through Amazon (thanks for supporting Doodles and Jots). If you already have a set but maybe haven’t played with it in a while I created a printable booklet to help renew your interest. I am hoping it will renew my own kids’ interest! In the booklet I tried to cover some of the broad uses with a more fine focus on some mathematical concepts which I think are a great place to take pattern blocks especially as kids get a little older. Stained Glass Painting Project for Kids - Happy Hooligans I just LOVE the look of stained glass, so when I find a cool stained glass art project for kids, I’m all over it! Recently the hooligans and I made these gorgeous “stained glass” paintings using bottle lids, paints and wax paper! When it comes to easy art techniques for kids, this one is the bomb!

paper decorations {winter edition} Here are some Christmas decorations inspired by the good old British weather! We’re putting the tree up this weekend so more decorations to come over the next week. When do you normally put yours up? (When I was little it was usually a Christmas eve job but nowadays my neighbourhood seems to go for December 1st!). (BTW: Don’t forget to put your loop of thread in before sticking the models together – I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve done that!)
