Upcycled Tie Statement Necklace {Repurposed} — Tip Junkie Homemade

Re-purposing: Tshirts into 5-strand-braided-headbands I was walking through Target a few weeks ago and noticed this little knit fabric headband that was not just braided together…….but woven. I decided they were charging way too much for something that could be made with t-shirt scraps. And that means free. So there you have it. (Or you may need one for working out. I kinda love it on my little girl . She always has little hair fly-aways that get into her face…….and this helps with that problem. It even works great with her hair down…..and keeps that hair tucked behind her ears. And yep, good for me too. Thanks little t-shirt scraps. Want to make your own? First, find some old t-shirts. Then, cut your fabric into long strips. Next, stack your 5 strips on top of each other and sew together at one end. Now, pull on each strip of fabric so that they kind of curl on the edges. Now, to create this 5 strand braid……..you’ll kind of be braiding on the left side and then braiding on the right. But let me explain a little better. And that’s it.

Seed Paper Tutorial | - StumbleUpon I first heard of seed paper–or hand made paper that has real flower seeds embedded in the pulp itself and is actually plantable–about a year ago while browsing through a stationary catalog. It was the coolest idea I’d ever seen–and so incredibly spring-y! Well, who knew that you could make this funky stuff all by yourself? First Step: Making the Screen Frame Here’s what you’ll need for the screen frame: 6-12 wide craft sticks–think tongue depressors Craft glue 1 or 2 pieces of mesh or screen about 6″x6″ electrical tape Glue four sticks together–like this. Lay the screen over the sticks and glue in place. Now glue two more sticks–one on the top and one on the bottom. I rested a glass bowl over the frames to hold everything in place until the glue dried. Your frame should look pretty much like this. Now wrap the whole frame with electrical tape, making sure to cover all the exposed wood. Second Step: Making the paper pulp Here’s what you’ll need to make the pulp: small flower seeds water Step #3

* Shirt-gone-Headband * (For Personal Use Only) What you need: One colorful 100% cotton shirt Needle & Thread Hot glue gun Sew-In Extra Heavyweight Interfacing Step One: Cut strips from shirt Width: Flowers: 1 1/2 inches Straps: 1/2 inch (Important: see step four before cutting) Length: Flowers: Any length. Straps: about 7 inches (Sorry, I forgot to snap a pic after I had cut everything. Step Two: Make flowers Take your strip and twist it while you wrap it around itself. Step Three: Arrange Flowers Arrange and hot glue flowers on interfacing. (The flower on the left of the picture is done in the exact same way, but instead of using a plain strip, I used a strip that I cut from the base of my shirt which had been serged.) Step Four: Make straps Take your strips, twist and pull them until they are very tight & will not unravel when you let go. *Important: You must cut your strips so that the grain of the fabric is not running vertically down the length of the strip, it must be horizontal. Step Five: Attach straps

wire words |&jones design company When Ryan & I were expecting our first baby, we thought it would be fun to throw a ‘revealing’ party. I created these sweet little invitations {eight years ago!} and used wire we had laying around to write ‘baby’. {Just thought I’d show you the inside of the invitation. I have no idea where the wire words idea came from … but I’ve been using it over and over since then. So here’s how you do it: You’ll need: ::wire {I’m not sure what gauge to buy, but something that you can bend easily with your hands. :: scissors :: a template of your printed word, if you prefer To create a word FREEHAND: Start bending the wire into cursive letters as you would write them with a pen. You may need to be creative on some letters {like the a which loops over the top in a clockwise circle rather than the normal counter-clockwise way you write} Cut off the end and create a loop. To create a word with a TEMPLATE: Print your word of choice in a cursive font {I used Little Days} in the size you like. See? One more thing.

Coolest Embellished T-Shirts and Tops - Photo Gallery (3 of 5) My favorite fashion trend of the moment are embellished t-shirts and tops. Why do I love them so much? They're the perfect thing to wear for a night out. There are so many varieties of embellished t-shirts out there, that it's fairly easy to build quite a collection. The embellished Adam top to the right is the perfect example.

"*The Heartfelt Home*" DIY,Sewing, Decorating, Crafts, Cooking,... - StumbleUpon I am so excited to share a great Christmas craft project today. Salt dough ornaments and gift tags. For pennies you can make a great gift for your family and friends. I am using the ones my girls and I made as gift tags that the recipients can later use as an ornament. All you need to get started is 1 cup all purpose flour 1/2 cup salt 1/2 water 1,2,3 easy peasy!!! Toss it all in the mixer for a few minutes. Once it is all combined Kneed until smooth I separated mine, so each girl could have one. Roll the dough ball out on wax paper Now for the fun part…. Grab a doily and press it into the dough with the rolling pin. When you lift the doily off you will be left with a beautiful pattern. Next grab a cookie cutter and cut out your ornaments. Remove the dough from around your ornament shapes, lift and place on a cookie sheet and poke a hole with a straw. Cook at 200 degrees for 5-6 hours. Take them out and let them cool. Paint them white, start with the back. After the paint is dry apply glue to the front.

Part 21 – Flowered Pillow Cover My heart broke while reading of the Sullenger family and the events going on in their life right now. Their darling little baby girl fell into a canal in Idaho (close to where I just moved from) and was pulled out of the water by a farmer 2 miles away. The parents, Patrick and Ashley, have shared pictures and their tender feelings of the whole situation on their blog here. Another blog has been set up to help the Sullenger family here. If you have a moment, please stop by. Looking for the Go! I mentioned yesterday, after introducing this fun little Go! I have a few things saved up, that are non-quilting related………in case quilting is not your thing. And you all know my love of pillows. So here’s another one, of course. A bright white one, with vibrant and full orange flowers on it. Made by folding and sewing dozens of little circles. And I decided that it sits really nicely atop that little Tumbler quilt that I made here. You can make one of these even without a Go! Placed the mat on top…….

Watermark Tee by Sweet Verbana Hello U-Create readers! I am so excited to be guest posting here today. It just so happens to be my first guest post and I'm still a little shocked that it's here at Ucreate, one of my favorite blogs! A little bit about me.. I'm from a little town called Keller, Texas. I'm a junior at Texas A&M University (whoop!). I'm working on my education degree and expect to be an elementary school teacher in just two short years. When I'm not busy studying for classes, I love to sew. I just started blogging in May and have already met all kinds of wonderful women, I hope you'll stop by and say hi too! Watermark Tee Tutorial What I love about this project is that it's completely customizable. Materials: Elmer's Blue Gel Glue (it must be the blue gel, white won't work) Fabric Dye (RIT is my tried and true brand) A white cotton Tee, Tank, Dress etc. Tutorial: If you're unfamiliar with Batiking, it's a method of dyeing fabric in which you create a design with a dye- resist. Step 1: Prepare Step 2: Design
