flax & twine: Day 6: A Pearl Cuff - a diy pearl and felt bracelet This is one of my favorites of the entire collection. I don’t know if its because of the robin’s egg blue or just the way the pearls look next to it. Its amazing what you can find at the craft store. This pearl trim came just like this – a strand of connected half-pearls. For a menu of all the other glammy, fun, jewelry tutorials, check out this page. Materials: 100% wool felt Corded elastic DMC 25 embroidery floss Flat pearl trim Pearl button Needle Scissors Ruler Time: 30 minutes Cut a half inch strip of felt. I like to sew on the trim first and then measure the wrist later. Start by securing your embroidery floss Sew the trim to the felt, keeping the string of pearls oriented in the middle of the strip. Following that pattern of bottom strand, top strand, consistently will make the back nice to look at too. Sew your stitch in the middle of the connecting strand so it has room to shift with out bunching. Let the strip of felt fall as you go so that the trim curves as it will around the wrist.

Refashion Tutorial - Long Sleeves to Bow Sleeve T-shirt If you've ever checked out my blog you'll know I love to change things up, my Hand-Me-Down Horror series has been all about buying yucky or just plain boring clothes and making them into something I'd be proud to wear. Hack off those sleeves, raise that hemline and bob's your uncle a cute custom piece, for pittence. This project is no different except I'm using a top that fits me and nothing goes to waste in this tutorial. So without further ado get your sewing needles and thread out and sharpen up those scissors! Before, a plain long sleeve Tee from Old Navy, that cost me a wopping $2.60 1. 2. This is what you'll end up with, don't throw anything out, nothing goes to waste on this project. Next you'll be making the bows, out of the sleeves (I know, genius right!) 3. DIY No Knit Scarf We love Rike Feurstein. Her hats are sick and her chunky knits are lusciously bold and amazing. And when we saw her Dylan scarf, we thought it was genius. Sewing Tutorial: Piggy Pillow As promised, I have completed the tutorial and the pattern for the “Be My Valentine – Piggy Pillow”, which was published 3 weeks ago. This time I made a pair for my kids, they love it. You may not be able to do it in time for this valentine but as I said, if you have love in you, everyday is valentine. Besides as a pillow, you can use this pattern to make into other things, for example, pin cushion, smaller softy as gift, or a piggy back pack for little children. Material you need:1. Print out the PDF pattern of the piggy pillow. Use a pencil and trace the pattern onto the cotton fabric. Sandwich the towels in between 2 fabrics. Sew it up on the sewing line, it can be from sewing machine or hand stitching. Turn body, ear and tail inside out. Tie a knot at the tip of the tail as shown, mark a length of 4″ from the tip. Turn the body outside in and position the tail on the top part of the body. Embellish the body with a heart. Stuff the piggy with poly-fill to the fullness you prefer.

Tutorials Tuxedo Tank Tutorial March 15, 2010 10:22 am Happy Monday! Here’s a quick little tank you can easily do! I’m still taking requests for the Anthropologie tutorial series, but I thought I’d do a little something in between. And this is how my version came out: I started of with this old shirt. I cut off the sleeves and sewed them under. Now, take your extra sleeves and cut into some thin strips. I also used two other fabrics I had. Ruffle ‘em up. Now for the placment: I started with the same fabric ruffles as my shirt and pinned it around the collar and down the center. Take the next strip. Take the next one… you get the picture! Here’s my final product. Now you’ve got an easy tank thats a GREAT layering piece. Have a wonderful day!!

Joyful Ruffle Neck Top – Tutorial Last week I showed you the top I made for my MIL’s B-day, remember? Well today is My Mom’s B-day! So Feliz Cumpleaños Mamá!! And as part of the celebration, I will show you how to make this top! Maybe it can be the Mom’s B-day Top!! The process is not very complicated and if you are making one for yourself I will describe the measurements I took, so you can adapt them to fit you. For the top I used some left overs I had of red polka-dot Chiffon, and I wear the top with something under it because the fabric is see trough, but you can make it with your choice of fabric, so you can wear it alone. Top Front: The width for this piece is your bust, I added to my measurement 1 inch on each side for the folding, plus 1.5 inches on each side for comfort. A Tutorial: Fabulous Ric Rac Flowers » Matilda Jane Clothing Rocks Let me start out with a warning or sorry of some sort. The warning is because I have never done a Tutorial before, so I hope this is helpful and easy to follow. The sorry is for how horrible my nails look. I promise I did them after looking through these pics. I thought I would start off with a Flower, I too, just learned how to make. Material: Time-Roughly 20 minutes about 28 inches of Ric Rac ( This will make a flower about 2 inches in diameter) Suggestion: The thicker the Ric Rac the better Felt (Any Color) One sheet will be fine depending on how many flowers you want to make. Optional: Hair Clips, leaves or buttons Step One: Take the two pieces and hot glue them together. Note: You want to glue them together as if they are a mirror of one another. Step two: Lock in each curve of the first piece with the second. Say to yourself “over,under,over, under”. *If your piece does not look like this, then you most likely glued the two pieces going the wrong direction. Pretty right? Cute right? Kayla

Lace T-shirt Refashion tutorial | Craftaholics Anonymous Well, hello fellow craft addicts! I’m thrilled to be visiting over here in Linda’s lovely space. I’m from over at the Crafty Cupboard, where I like to share my fun projects. I mostly sew, but I love simple, easy décor projects too. I have two little girls who make life that much more exciting, and one very supportive husband who has been fully trained on how long he needs to ooh and aah over something I’ve made. (all of these lace-infused tops were found at ModCloth, my go-to-source for good knock-off ideas) I like to keep my shoulders and such covered, so that pretty much rules me out of the lace goodness without the undershirt beneath breaking up the loveliness.
