PeerIndex — Think People Inventory Management Startup Stitch Labs Adds Payment Processing With Verifone’s Sail We’ve already written a few times about how Stitch Labs helps small, independent merchants manage their sales operations across a wide range of online marketplaces. Well now it’s making it easier to connect their online and offline sales, through a partnership with Verifone’s Sail payment processing system. Stitch wants to make it easier for small, independent businesses to manage their CRM, product orders, and inventory all in one central location. To do that, it’s created a SaaS-based platform that allows independent designers, makers, and manufacturers to list their goods on multiple sales sites and keep track of their supply and demand, regardless of where goods were sold. But what happens when those vendors sell goods out in the real world, at craft or maker fairs, or at other events or expos? With the Sail integration, Stitch customers will be able to sell their goods, process credit card transactions, and have inventory automatically updated on the fly.

Tabbedout, a startup backed by $5.75 million from NEA and others, has been developing a platform that allows bar and restaurant customers to pay for their tab using their smartphone. Today, the company is announcing a partnership with Point-of-Sale (POS) system maker Harbortouch which will allow it to sizably increase its footprint in the space. The two companies have joined forces to deliver an integrated solution that’s being installed on all the new Harbortouch Hospitality POS deployments in the future, as well as integrated into existing terminals. Though to the consumer, it may seem like it should be simple enough to just start paying for things in the offline world with your phone, there’s a reason why no entity has yet to establish itself as a leading mobile wallet application yet. And then there’s all those point-of-sale systems to think of. When TabbedOut completed its Series A in May 2011, it had 200 restaurants in 90 cities.
Gumroad SizeUp Brings Mint-Like Business Intelligence And Competitive Analysis To SMBs When it comes to business intelligence and competitive analysis, large businesses hire consultants and employ in-house analysts to help determine where a business should be operating, how to compete, how to grow and more. But what about small businesses? According to the SBA, 99.9% of the businesses in the US are small businesses. There’s a huge underserved market around SMBs and providing the same business intelligence to this sector could help many businesses actually grow. SizeUp provides many of the same demographic, industry, geographic, business, and cost data that big businesses use to make smarter decisions, but provides it to all companies at no cost to the end-user. First, SizeUp allows businesses to compare their business, in terms of revenue, employees, growth, salary, profit and more, against the rest of their competition in a region. Businesses can also use SizeUp to find the best places to advertise. JH: What business model will you focus on first?
