In the bowl of a stand mixer combine the milk and 1 tablespoon of sugar; add yeast and let rest 10 minutes until foamy. Eat Like a Foodie at Home, Without Breaking Your Budget I don't know how I feel about their wine "sweet spot". I'm not a sommelier, but I drink wine fairly frequently, and I've managed to find many wines ~$10 that are great, everyday table wines. Last week I picked up a Rueda for $8 that was good enough that I'll probably buy a case. I'm sorry, but if you drink wine often, $15-$17 a bottle can get expensive quick. There's one thing I do now when I purchase a more expensive bottle of wine.

Baked Pumpkin Doughnuts with Maple-Cinnamon Glaze I’ve been having a hard time switching over into fall mode. I think it’s because the daytime temps here have still been in the 80s. While other people have been throwing out pumpkin and apple and comfort food, I’ve been hanging onto summer foods like crazy. But I guess the official first day of fall on Friday kicked me into fall mode, because all of a sudden I am going crazy with the pumpkin, and burning my vanilla spiced candles at home. There definitely is hint of cooler temperatures in the air, and maybe now I’ll start feeling it with the scents of fall going through my house! Up first in a line of many upcoming pumpkin recipes are these doughnuts.

Apple Walnut Cinnamon Rolls Apple Walnut Cinnamon Rolls Another over the top cinnamon roll filled with shredded apples and chopped walnuts and smothered in cream cheese icing with a hint of coffee, yeah they are GOOD! These are rich and delicious perfect for Christmas morning. Scrumptious Baked Cinnamon Breakfast Bites I love a good donut, especially a homemade one. What I don’t love is the pain associated with deep frying them. It is messy, time consuming and certainly more fattening. These baked Cinnamon Breakfast Bites mimic what I love about donut holes but without all the added stress and calories.

sweet saturday: one minute peanut butter cake & Food & back to her roots Picture this scene: it’s 8:30 in the evening. The sky is just starting to get dark outside your living room window. You ate a delicious, healthy and veggie-filled dinner a few hours ago and now you are ready to sit down to the most recent episode of So You Think You Can Dance and dive into a decadent plate of dessert. Oh wait, you have no dessert. Pumpkin Cinnamon Rolls Recipe If you happen to read MBA on a regular basis, you may remember me discussing my fear of yeast and my attempt to conquer that fear with the help of Amber from Bluebonnets and Brownies. Well since that post a couple of months back, I have been a bread baking fool and no longer doubt myself in the yeast department. In fact, I probably have more bread baking supplies and tools than some bakeries and with that came a serious addiction to the King Arthur Flour website. Since I’m no longer a yeast novice, you can imagine how excited I am to flaunt my newly developed skills for this week’s Holiday Recipe Exchange sponsored by Red Star Yeast.

Avocado Fries Oh dear. I never should have done this. This may be one of my biggest mistakes all year. Can’t take it back now. So we’re totally enjoying our grilled avocados, but my husband innocently asks “What else can you do with avocados?” And so my daughter tweets this recipe, and I'm laying all the blame on them.

Vanilla Pudding Cinnamon Rolls with Cream Cheese Frosting Per the requests I got after my last cinnamon roll post, here is the recipe for my tried-and-true vanilla pudding cinnamon rolls with cream cheese frosting. The vanilla pudding is simply added to the dough to make it extremely soft and pliable – and oh, does it ever. (No surprise, this recipe comes direct from my Aunt Marilyn whose recipes have made a great showing on this blog already.) I made these last week and it confirmed my feelings: I am in love with these cinnamon rolls. Glazed Doughnut Muffins Glazed Doughnut Muffins Have you ever found yourself choosing between a doughnut or a muffin to start your day? Well now you don’t have to choose! Nutella Cinnamon Rolls May 10, 2011 | Print | E-mail | Filed under bread, nutella There are some days that I just lose my appetite. It might be because of my mood, or that nothing sounds good, or that I’m in a food rut again and need to spice things up a bit. When my appetite comes back though, what I’m inevitably craving is some sort of comfort food.
