Teabags! Perfect cookie for a Tea Party!

Teabags! Perfect cookie for a Tea Party!
For my boss's birthday I made these shortbread tea bags... I was inspired when I saw some wooden tea bags as part of a kid's play food set - I thought hmmm one day I could do shortbread dipped in chocolate! I made little tags with cupcakes and used embroidery thread. I used a round icing tip to punch a little hole in each one before I baked so that I could thread it later. ps... shortbread recipe from: Source INSTRUCTIONS - click HERE and turn to page 55 & 56

A brownie by any other name… | King Arthur Flour – Baking Banter - StumbleUpon Love brownies. Love their shiny, flaky top that shatters into micro-thin shards that shower onto your fingers as you eat. Love their dark, gooey center. Their “chocolate nirvana” flavor. Sometimes can’t deal with the bake, wait to cool, cutting into squares messiness and fuss of brownies. Every time I make these cookies (which, truth be told, is quite often), I think of a former colleague, Ana, who left King Arthur last year in order to be a full-time mom to her 2-year-old twins. The test kitchen bakers loved Ana. Ana still visits occasionally, 2-year-olds in tow. And when she does, she’ll invariably nose out any chocolate, and treat us to her classic reaction: “Perfect! These cookies are basically brownies: flat, round, 2 ½” brownies. First task: Combine the chocolate and butter. Melt in the microwave till softened… …then stir till smooth. Stir the chocolate into eggs and sugar, which you’ve beaten together. Refrigerate the batter for an hour; it’ll stiffen up nicely. Buy vs.

Death By Oreo Cupcakes - StumbleUpon They are probably the best Oreo cakes I have ever tried. A lot of cake's that I have experimented with before are like a vanilla cake with bits of Oreo in them, which didn't really give them enough Oreo flavor. But these were a lot better. I used a dark chocolate fudge cake mix instead of just a regular chocolate cake mix, which went really well with the cookies and gave the cakes just a little more flavor. Ingredients 1 package Oreo Cookies, regular size 1 package Mini Oreo Cookies, for decoration (optional) 1 package chocolate cake mix (mix according to directions on box) 8 ounces cream cheese, room temperature 1/2 cup butter (1 stick), room temperature 3 3/4 cups powdered sugar 1 teaspoon vanilla extract cupcake liners Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cream together butter and cream cheese. foodsnots.com

Green Tomato Chocolate Cake If you don’t have a garden, this post may send you running to a neighbor’s just to snatch a few green tomatoes. Green tomatoes in chocolate cake? Yes, quite odd I know, but no less strange than the beer that’s also part of the recipe. You won’t taste the flavor from either, but you will get a moist cake with a light, spongy texture that’s perfect for layering or for cupcakes. You can bake this recipe in a large 9 x 13-inch pan, or in 8-inch cake pans, or as cupcakes, or a combination of them. These are the remaining vestiges of this year’s tomato harvest. For this recipe, cut up the green tomatoes and put in your food processor: Then pulse until you have a smooth puree: Follow the rest of the recipe as follows, which is adapted from “The Tomato Festival Cookbook," by Lawrence Davis-Hollander Green Tomato Chocolate Cake Printable Recipe Here 1 T. instant espresso 1 cup beer 1 cup pureed green tomatoes 1/4- 1/2 cup water (optional) Directions Preheat oven to 350. But I do eat it. Weird. It’s way better eaten. There’s some dark and white sugar cooked with dark dutch processed cocoa powder…and a can of coke! There’s some the ol’ that pouring into this and this pouring into that. There’s some mixing. Take a little PAM and spray the liners–this is a sticky cupcake batter. UPDATED TIP ALERT: A few of you tried this recipe and sprayed them and the cupcake still stuck. These cupcakes are chocolately, decadent, rich and kind of amaze. This frosting isn’t frosting–it’s just whipped cream. And guess what? Next, cherries on top! P.S. Coca-Cola Cupcakes Recipe adapted from Baked: The New Frontier Yields 15 cupcakes Print this recipe! And an old friend for line-dancing tonight. And I’m feeling rather spoiled about it all. I mean, moms shouldn’t have TWO social events on the calendar for the same day, should we? Which brings me to the point of what moms should be doing anyway. For a long time, I measured myself by what I remember of my own mom. The odd thing is, I’ve now reached the age in my life where I am exactly as old as she was. Such is the fate of all moms. And I realized then that everyday is really a bit like living in an imaginary world. Because, ancient people don’t do lunch with new friends. And they definitely don’t join in a on rousing night session of line-dancing with old friends. They don’t make oatmeal in the morning in bare feet and spandex shorts. And ancient people DEFINITELY do not fill their day’s with a slew of other snappy, bodacious activities. See? I’m crazy hip. Whatever are my kids thinking? Ingredients: 4 eggs 1 cup brown sugar 3/4 cup cocoa powder

The Brownie That Will Change Your Life - StumbleUpon Let me start off by saying that viewer discretion is advised for today’s post. OK now with the story that preludes possibly the greatest brownie I have ever sunk my teeth in thus far in my life. Last Saturday Mrs. Zesty had a baby shower to attend and she was designated for a dessert/sweet treat for the girls. Last week was a bit of a zoo and I think I forgot about prepping this dessert until Friday afternoon at work. I knew time was tight and I didn’t want to spend all night Friday night to prep a dessert. This recipe, I cannot take any credit for and nor will I try as it is compliments of Nestle Toll House and as you can see from the reviews…. Ingredients 1 pkg. Red Azuki Bean Filled Mochi Cupcakes with Matcha Green Tea Frosting This week, my neighbor Jamie invited me to a Real Housewives-style lunch (sans crazy drama and plastic surgery) at her house with a couple other ladies from the block. Our other neighbor Cathy offered to whip up some of her delicious egg rolls and noodles, Jamie supplied her precious Lupicia tea, and since Jamie has her hands full chasing around her adorable 10-month-old daughter, I figured I would chip in with dessert. But what do bring that would be tasty next to Cathy's delicious Chinese delectables and Jamie's wonderful tea? One of my favorite Japanese treats is daifuku manju: sweetened mochi (rice cake) filled with an (sweet bean paste) that is intended to be eaten with tea. I used to love to stop at Benkyo-do in Japantown for a manju sampler: white mochi with red koshi-an (smooth bean paste), pink mochi with white koshi-an, green tea mochi with red tsubushi-an (chunky bean paste).
