It’s like using the display connected to your Apple TV as a digital bulletin board! I suggest adding an iCloud Photos album on your Mac, iPhone, or iPad titled Apple TV. After adding images to this album, go into Apple TV’s Settings app and choose Screen Saver. How to Manage Classroom Digital Portfolios by Using Page-level Permissions in Google Sites Earlier this week on the Free Technology for Teachers Facebook page I re-shared written directions for using page-level permissions in Google Sites to manage classroom digital portfolios. A couple of people have asked me to elaborate on those directions. I created the following video to demonstrate how you can use page-level permissions to manage a group digital portfolio. Page-level permissions in Google Sites allows the creator of a site to share and give editing access to specific pages within a site rather than giving access to edit the entire site. To use page-level permissions open your Google Site editor then click "enable page-level permissions." With page-level permissions activated you can share and allow editing for each page individually.

Once you are registered you can begin creating rooms. In your chat room you can exchange messages and files. As the owner of a room you can delete messages written by your students.

Mark Samberg, who has worked in education for 13 years, first as a K-12 tech director and later as a district level technology director, has some sage advice. Samberg is a research associate for the Friday Institute for Educational Innovation, a center at North Carolina State University dedicated to helping figure out what tech solutions work in classrooms and to sharing what its researchers learn with educators. “Schools are making the best decisions they can given the information they have,” Samberg said. “It’s very difficult to stay on top of what’s new and cutting edge when you’ve got a billion other things going on.” Samberg offers some advice, both big-picture philosophies and detailed strategies, on how to move forward with a technology plan.
