Pin - A Dynamic Binary Instrumentation Tool Overview Pin is a dynamic binary instrumentation framework for the IA-32 and x86-64 instruction-set architectures that enables the creation of dynamic program analysis tools. Some tools built with Pin are Intel Parallel Inspector, Intel Parallel Amplifier and Intel Parallel Advisor. Pin provides a rich API that abstracts away the underlying instruction-set idiosyncrasies and allows context information such as register contents to be passed to the injected code as parameters. Pin was originally created as a tool for computer architecture analysis, but its flexible API and an active community (called "Pinheads") have created a diverse set of tools for security, emulation and parallel program analysis. Distribution Pin is proprietary software developed and supported by Intel and is supplied free of charge for non-commercial use. MinGW | Minimalist GNU for Windows AlgoViz.org | The Algorithm Visualization Portal Metrics, metrics who has the right metrics – well we have some data and five observations. In the 2012 Gartner Executive Programs CIO survey we asked CIOs several questions about the metrics they use, how effective the metrics were and how effective they were at demonstrating the business value of IT. We shared the data with CIOs over the past year and some interesting insights came up that are the subject of this post. Now, with 2013 planning underway it may help to review the metrics that CIOs see as the most effective in helping to set your metrics for 2013. We asked CIOs which types of metrics they use most often and how effective their metrics were at demonstrating the business value of IT. Anyone can measure something once, but the chart looks at the metrics that sit at the core of IT. Here are some observations and supporting discussion based on a summary graphic that bring this into perspective. #1 The more effective the IT organization is, the more effective its ability to demonstrate the business value of IT. It is common sense. Some suggestions in this area:

DynamoRIO Dynamic Instrumentation Tool Platform Gammu SMSD Gammu SMS Daemon is a program that periodically scans GSM modem for received messages, stores them in defined storage and also sends messages enqueued in this storage. It is perfect tool for managing big amounts of received or sent messages and automatically process them. You can currently store received messages in files or in various databases. MySQL and PostgreSQL are supported natively and wide range of others (including SQLite) through libdbi (libdbi backend is currently not available in Windows builds). The package includes also tool gammu-smsd-inject which will help you creating long text messages and gammu-smsd-monitor which allows you to monitor current status of SMS Daemon or phone. For managing messages in the database, you can use Kalkun frontend, which provides web interface to messages and phonebook. Latest News Gammu 1.33.0 Gammu 1.33.0 has been just released. Scratch Forums / BYOB 3 - Discussion Thread Hardmath123 wrote: like just appending #Username<dash>Projectname to view a project whose code (XML) is hosted on a server. Sure, but that isn't the problem I'm trying to solve. Once a project is in the cloud, it has a reasonably short URL no matter what. I want a client-side "shorten URL" option in the File menu that takes the super-long URL that's in the browser's URL bar after a (local) save and shortens it. In fact, you know, it just occurs to me, that would give us 90% of the capability of a cloud server, with tinyurl doing the heavy lifting instead of us! One of you js programmers with too much time on his/her hands want to implement this and send Jens the code? The right thing would then be to keep in localstore a collection of the user's shortened URLs for ease of later loading. And maybe instead of cluttering the File menu, the right thing to do is have the Save option give a dialog like Things in {braces} above are comments.

Vertical Is The New Horizontal: How The Cloud Makes Domain Expertise More Valuable In The Enterprise Editor’s note: Gordon Ritter is a founder and general partner at Emergence Capital, focused on cloud companies. In the days before the cloud, on-premise software providers that focused on selling into a vertical market were considered second-class citizens to the “big guns” selling into the broader horizontal marketplace. The real “win”—in market share, wallet share and ultimately, profits—was the broadest approach. The notion of specializing in solutions that serve a market niche or specific industry was considered limited unless it was just the start of something more horizontal. However, with the advent of the SaaS model, the tables have turned. The Obvious Benefits Some of the drivers are fairly obvious. Going vertical also enables you to capture a larger market share more quickly. Case in point: In just four years, Veeva Systems has eclipsed Oracle as U.S. market share leader for life sciences CRM platforms, simply by specializing in the life sciences industry. API Hooking tool injecting code in the PE: tool explanation and application examples.. Hello again.. There was a long time since my last post, cos i was busy with several issues, but most time with this tool.. Checking it’s operation, testing the hooked PE in different OSs, changing the method used, etc.. Finally i came up with this tool, and below i will explain exactly how it works, give you the source code and a binary, and show you some applications of this tool with video and/or shots… This is an API hooking tool, which uses the PE IAT patch method, and runs the payload, injecting the code in the PE permanently, changing the PE Header apropriately (section sizes, OEP, ..)
