Newsboy Slouch Crochet Hat
Newsboy Slouch Crochet Hat Adult Woman’s This slouch hat was inspired by my Mary’s Newsboy free crochet hat pattern. I liked the overall look of the Mary’s Newsboy very much but I also wanted something a little more slouchier. This hat is a mix between a slouch and a semi slouch (your look will vary depending on how much tension you use). A very slouchy version will be coming soon, though the style may vary slightly. I’m not done playing around with this particular look yet. MaterialsRed Heart yarn or any worsted weight yarn Hat hook used is a 9.00mm (N) hook – be sure to check gauge you may have to go up to 10.0mm (P)Brim hook used is 6.00mm (J) hook- if you needed a larger hook to obtain gauge in hat you will want to use a 6.5mm (K) hook embroidery needle to weave in ends Special Stitches mc/r- magic circle/ring (watch my video tutorial here) Increase- two of the designated stitch per space Notes Click on any picture to make it larger.Be sure to use loose tension when making this hat. 1.
The Bobbi Hat - Free Pattern News Boy Hat
I named this hat "The Bobbi Hat" after Bobbi who sent me a photo of a similar hat, and told me I should go into business and she would take one for the team and be the first one to wear it. So I made it as a gift for her. I found a free pattern on the internet for a news boy hat, but it wasn't quite the right shape, so I created this pattern which worked out much better for me. So I thought I would share this. See the bottom of this post for some more pictures, and some alterations I did. Double Strand Acrylic or Cotton size 4 Yarn – Just your basic yarn using two strands at once. (I did discover Caron Simply Soft is too narrow the gauge doesn't match up for me any way.) Crochet Hook - Size K / 10.5 / 6.5 MM Gauge: 4” = 9 DC Stitches 4” = 6 Rows of DC Way way at the bottom of this page I have a chart made up for the hat, for those of you who like to follow charts. Soooo cute....I have made dozens of pairs to give for gifts. Did I tell you how much I love this pattern? Just a little note about the materials... I used Caron Simply Soft Brites in Orange, Pink, Green, and White. I chose this yarn for the great colors and softness, but after some use, the yarn does fuzz up a bit. Edit: I am adding the pattern for the owl hat here. Additional Edit: Please do not take this pattern and reprint or repost on Ravelry, blog, or anywhere else as your own. Owl Hat Materials Size G (4mm) crochet hook Worsted weight yarn Sizing 3-6 months (closer to 6 months) To increase the size of the hat add an increase row and then an even row for each size up. Edit: I have recently crocheted this pattern with a regular worsted (Loops and Threads, Red Heart, Vanna's Choice) and it is larger than 3 months. This Hat takes a little more yarn than just a basic beanie, but not much. I just love how the bright green looks with the red! Finished hat should fit 18-24 month old. (17-19" head circumference) Materials used hook size: H hook worsted weight yarn in red and green Needle for sewing on parts. Stitches used ch, sc, sl st, dc, bobble stitch. Bobble stitch is as follows: yo insert hook in st, yo, draw up a loop. (3 loops on hook) Yo, pull through 2 loops on hook. Hat is made in rounds, you do not turn after any row of this hat. Start with red yarn and make a magic ring. Round 1: ch 3 in ring. dc 11 more times in ring. join to top of ch 3. 12 dc. Round 2: ch 2. dc in same st. as ch 2. 2dc in each st around. join to first dc.
