Soft Rainbow Sandwich Bread This is a really fun bread for school lunches and anything that your kids like that includes bread! I just took a very good bread recipe and made it into a RAINBOW BREAD RECIPE; my process tutorial is below with the recipe for this great bread (even without the awesome colors). The recipe makes 2 loaves and is for a basic very soft white bread that could easily be changed to a wheat bread {just use 3 cups wheat flour and 3 cups white flour in place of the 6 cups white flour}. Its actually perfect for sandwiches because it stays soft {I wrapped one loaf in press & seal wrap and foil and froze it for later and the other loaf I just put in a gallon sized ziplock bag} and is easy to slice into normal sandwich bread thickness. I found the original recipe here. This bread also makes great toast, crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. Ingredients to Make 2 Loaves: -2 cups warm water (about 110 degrees) -2/3 cup sugar -1 1/2 tsp salt -1/4 cup canola or vegetable oil -6 cups flour -food coloring

Dirt Pudding Cups With Gummy Worms Recipe “Worms in Dirt” may not sound appetizing, but the taste of this easy dessert will make you a believer! These chocolate pudding cups are decorated with crushed cookies and gummy worms, to make a creepy-crawly treat that kids will love to help make and eat. This recipe doesn’t require any cooking and comes together in about 15 minutes, so it’s the perfect activity to do with young helpers on a warm summer’s day. Worms in Dirt Pudding Cups Recipe Ingredients Yield: 8 cups Prep time: 30 min 1 15-ounce package chocolate sandwich cookies (like Oreos)1 3.9-ounce package chocolate instant pudding2 cups cold milk8 ounces whipped topping (like Cool Whip)24 gummy worms The first order of business when making “worms in dirt” is, of course, to make the dirt. Continue to crush the cookies in the bag until they are in fine crumbs. Next, make the pudding. Let the pudding sit for about 5 minutes, until it thickens and is no longer liquid. Add the whipped topping and approximately half of the cookie crumbs.

Save Food from the Fridge by Jihyun Ryou Although we seem to think and talk about food almost constantly, do we really know how best to preserve it or do we leave this responsibility to technology? Design Academy Eindhoven graduate Jihyun Ryou feels we no longer understand how to treat food. Her Save Food from the Fridge project involves placing certain foods on a group of "knowledge shelves" outside the fridge. Perhaps through a better relationship with our food we may be able to waste less and conserve more energy. The ethylene gas produced by apples keeps potatoes from sprouting. Storing root vegetables vertically keeps them fresher longer. The umpteen tiny holes on the surface of an eggshell allows odors from other foods to be absorbed, so keeping them out of the fridge will ensure their tastiness. The glass cup of water is used to test freshness: a fresh egg will sink and remain horizontal. Fruit vegetables such as zucchini, aubergines, peppers and cucumbers are better off outside the fridge, placed above a water tray.

Deep-Dish Chocolate Chip Cookie for One By Lauren Zembron, on July 20th, 2012 I know, I know… it seems as though I’ve been posting sweet recipe after sweet recipe (with a little something cheesy thrown in); but you see, after what seemed like a long time during which sweets were unappealing during my first trimester, (what can I say, pregnancy does some strange things to your body!), they’re apparently back with a vengeance on my appetite’s menu. Sooooo if you’re a sweet freak like me, all I can say about my recent recipe post pattern is: you’re welcome. And if you’re not? Now let’s get to this deep-dish cookie. Jenny from Picky Palate recently posted a recipe for a microwavable chocolate chip cookie made in a ramekin that looked so unbelievably delicious I had to make my own (slightly healthier) version. I cut out half of the sugar, subbed in whole wheat pastry flour, and used grain-sweetened chocolate chips (which have less sugar than semi-sweet chips). Now I’m under no delusion that even my version is healthy.

Mix butter, powdered sugar, peanut butter, and graham crackers together in large bowl. Makes 6-7 dozen truffles. Linked to:

Pumpkin Pie Bites & bakerella.com - StumbleUpon I’ve been in a mini-mood lately when it comes to baking and these bite-sized pies met my big craving. They are really, really easy. Let me show ya. Of course, it didn’t hurt that I used ready to roll refrigerated pie crust. Then, stuff each one in a mini muffin baking pan. Press the dough down, in and around the edge of each muffin cup. Fill each pie crust with pumpkin filling all the way to the top. When they come out of the oven, they’ll be puffed up like this. But no, after they cool for a few, they’ll fall and be flush with the pie crust. See… easy mini pumpkin pie bites. You can even drizzle them with melted chocolate to jazz them up a bit. But wait… you say you don’t want to wait until Thanksgiving. I don’t blame you. So… pipe some chocolate faces on and make them in October. Cute! And I’ll say it again… easy! Pumpkin Pie Bites 2 refrigerated ready-to roll pie crusts Optional 1/2 cup chocolate morsels vegetable oil re-sealable plastic bags Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Makes 24 pies. Enjoy!
