After two years, I think I have my Replicator (apparently the first one shipped) finally working reliably to produce >1 hour prints. Thank you @iandanforth for asking if I had a description of the mods I did and prompting me to write this. The Replicator has been a very frustrating product. Things I have done thus far (in roughly chronological order): * Replaced heated build plate since the original was very non-flat * Replaced both thermocouples with parts from Makerbot * Installed new extruder design (eliminates all filament feed issues) * Installed Bottleworks aluminum replacement arms * Went to three-point bed leveling by removing one of the four leveling nuts. The heated build platform and thermocouple issues were just bad original parts from Makerbot. Assuming the basic mechatronics of the printer work, the most critical fix is the new extruder design. The next most critical mod is replacing those stupid plastic cantilever arms with something sturdier.

PIXEL: LED ART | An LED display for retro pixel art that includes commissioned art from pixel artists Make a Laser Matrix Projector for the iPhone The Concept The idea is to add some kind of projector capability to a cell phone (e.g. iPhone) that isn’t too complex or expensive. Instead of using an expensive mini projector, I decided to use lasers instead to any bitmap font using a matrix of laser points, which is controlled by iPhone. The Hardware The hardware contains 3 basic parts: 5×7 laser matrix5 8-bit D-type latches (SN74LVTH573PW) to control the total 35 laser pointersMicrocontroller (PIC16F722) to control the decoder and manage the serial communication with iPhone – grab the code. The laser modules can emit 650nm red laser light, with power consumption of 2~5 mW. The Software The micro-controller software is fairly strait forward, it just waiting for command sent by iPhone via the serial port, and execute the command by controlling the 5 latches. Here’s what the application looks like on the iPhone. The iPhone side software is a bit more complex. The End Result: Video Demo:(I had some issues getting the keyboard to come up
