I’ve been scarred ever since. So I’ve been trying to grow my hair long for years now, I usually wuss out and end up getting a big chunk chopped off (never to the extent of the boy haircut that was surreptitiously thrust upon me!). This time I’m determined to have shiny mermaid length hair!! Over the past 6 or so months I think I’ve added about 5-6inches of hair, and that’s with a few trims in between. Use a good shampoo/conditioner to keep your hair in tip-top condition. How you wash your hair is also important. Use shampoo on the roots only and give yourself a root massage as you apply it to stimulate hair follicles, washing it out through the rest of your hair will clean that part without drying the ends. Try and use less hair products so that you don’t need to wash your hair as often. Lay off the heat styling.

Curls and Braid Headband I am sometimes asked how I style my hair, and while my method is far from perfect, I thought I'd show you how! My hair is pretty straight and fine naturally and I always let it air dry. Since I go about three days between washes, I like to curl it on the first day and let it mellow out into some nice waves over the next two. Let's get started! If your hair doesn't hold curl very well then you may want to put a palmful of curling mousse in it when it is halfway dry. (though I want to upgrade to one of the fancy new ones from Sultra soon!) When I'm done curling the bottom section, I mist it with Bumble and bumble Spray de Mode and comb through the curl with my fingers. Ahh!! If you want to dress it up a little, you can do a braided headband look! Find a spot on the opposite side of your head and pin it so that it blends in naturally with the rest of your hairstyle. I've been going to the beach and doing a lot of swimming in pools this summer and I wanted to find a cute way to wear my hair up that was simple and stylish. After fiddling around with my locks, I've created a topknot that I absolutely love! Begin by braiding three small, random sections somewhat near your hairline. Taking either your hands, teasing comb or a bristled brush, tease your braids a little to give them a rough edge. Roughly gather hair on the top of your head and create a messy HPT (high ponytail) I like to pull some pieces of pull back hair to create a messier, carefree appearance. Grab your ponytail section and spray sea salt spray throughout. Take threes to five SMALL sections from your PT and tease them a bit. Nail Polish Bobby Pins I saw this tutorial on Pinterest from Pink Lemonade and I knew I had to make some myself. I also love how she gave an old simple necklace a makeover with a little colorful nail polish. I lined up bobby pins along a piece of card stock. I then painted them with different shades of colorful nail polish. It can get a little messy, but overall it was very easy. Some colors only needed one coat, while more transparent colors needed two or three. What have you decorated with nail polish?

This rule of thumb also generally applies to boob size too, but that's a post for another day. Being one who falls squarely in the category of naturally wavy hair (in the ugly, frizzy way), I've always lusted after big, bouncy, bodacious curls. Funnily enough, my husband also lusts after big, bouncy and bodacious, but we're not talking about curls (wokka wokka). Since I was little I've been obsessed with curls. My mom is the only one of Grandmother's three daughters (there are also three boys) who didn't have super curly hair, and this pillowcase technique is how Grandmother curled my mom's hair as a girl. A note on how to do this technique - just like with a curling iron, the smaller the sections of hair, the tighter the curl, and the tighter you wrap your hair, the tighter the curl. P.s.
