Researchers at Dutch company Polymer Vision have created flexible circuitry that bonds to displays at low temperatures so that screens can bend without melting or breaking. (prima parte) – Daniel Dennett « Il neurone proteso Da oggi inizierò la pubblicazione (con periodicità casuale) di un esperimento mentale del filosofo Danel Dennett: un breve racconto fantascientifico intitolato “Dove sono?”, che tratterà in maniera intrigante e divertente la questione dell’ubicazione dell’io ed il rapporto fra mente e corpo. Cercherò di dividere il racconto in modo da permettere a chi legge, di avere il tempo di ragionare su ciò che è accaduto fino a quel momento. Man mano che la storia prosegue, alcune intuizioni verranno ribaltate, le situazioni cambieranno e si aggiungeranno elementi alla vicenda. Per questo, secondo me, è importante procedere poco alla volta. Il racconto è molto interessante perché fornisce degli spunti molto intelligenti, ma stranamente poco popolari fra chi non è appassionato all’argomento. Presto una Tata ad aria compressa? Era stata presentata anche al Motor Show di Bologna nel 2001, poi della Eolo, la prima auto del mondo con motore ad aria compressa progettata dal francese Guy Nègre, si sono perse progressivamente le tracce. Sotto il pianale della Eolo vi erano delle bombole ad aria compressa e un motore di 567cc alimentato a "iniezione d'aria elettronica". Inoltre, la Eolo avrebbe dovuto essere equipaggiata con un piccolo compressore elettrico che, attaccandosi a una normale presa di corrente a 220V, in quattro ore avrebbe assicurato all'auto il pieno d'aria compressa. Le prestazioni dichiarate all'epoca parlavano di 25 cavalli, un'autonomia di 200 chilometri e una velocità massima di 110 Km/h. Il progetto negli anni è proseguito in sordina e a singhiozzo; qualcuno ha addirittura ipotizzato delle pressioni da parte delle compagnie petrolifere volte a scoraggiare l'intraprendente ingegnere francese. Come si suol dire in questi casi, ai posteri l'ardua sentenza.
Skinny Player - One Album Music Player by Chih-Wei Wang & Shou-Hsi Fu One Album Band Aid The Skinny Player kinda reminds me of the O+ Music Campaign where the promotional kit offers one song in various mediums. The concept here with the Skinny Player is to offer one album space on a portable – Band Aid-esque device. The self-sticking player houses a play/stop button and flexible speakers. Although I am not so sure about the sound quality for the output, but the idea is worth exploring. Il genio è un essere più mitologico che reale. Genio è un appellativo che si da a una persona che ha avuto un’idea brillante, e magari gliela si dà una sola volta nella vita, quella volta che ha avuto l’idea brillante. Se l’idea brillante in questione è poi in grado di cambiare la vita di milioni di persone negli anni e nei secoli a venire, o a destare in loro meraviglia, ecco che il fortunato mortale si trova ad avere l’appellativo di genio universale e di passare alla storia. Ciò non toglie che magari possano esistere schiere di geni ignoti, che non sono stati così fortunati da poter realizzare le loro idee, o a trovare qualcuno che li volesse appoggiare. Io sono geniale? A farsi venire in testa buone idee sono capaci in tanti, a porle in pratica molto pochi. Io dunque non sono un genio, perché a livello artistico, di tipo narrativo e fumettistico, ho molte brillanti idee, ma non riesco a realizzarle. Il genio non è matto, anzi.
