Camera Lenses" In the last section, we saw that at any one point, a lens bends light beams to a certain total degree, no matter the light beam's angle of entry. This total "bending angle" is determined by the structure of the lens. A lens with a rounder shape (a center that extends out farther) will have a more acute bending angle. Increasing the bending angle has an obvious effect. Increasing the distance between the lens and the real image actually increases the total size of the real image. The same basic thing happens in a camera. Professional cameras let you attach different lenses so you can see the scene at various magnifications. Different lenses are suited to different situations.

Nikon D2H custom settings - Neil vN The D2H is an immediately impressive camera – extremely flexible, and offering a myriad of options that the photographer can set according to their own style and needs. Here are my preferences for the Custom Settings .. and why. As with my recommendations with the D100 and D70, there are some custom settings which I believe should be changed from the default settings. The camera seems to power down gracefully, for example, much like the old film bodies. If you accidentally leave the camera on overnight with a full battery, the camera still claims ~87% battery charge 24 hours later, and that figure seems accurate. CompactFlash write performance can be superb. Autofocus performance is superb, though requires learning to use well. Color integrity is usually excellent, just as it has been with previous Nikon DSLRs, but with one caveat, which I'll get to in a moment. A second color problem took me longer to recognize: in some situations the camera has a green bias that can be ugly (see the software section in my eBook for a full example of this). Edge acuity is pretty darned good, though it comes with a minor caveat (potential moire). In an earlier iteration of this review I wrote that "near infrared is blocked more on this camera than on previous Nikon DSLRs." That's saying a lot, actually. Drawbacks
Camera Lens Once you've settled on the subject and the light, you have to decide on the relative prominence of objects in the scene. By moving the camera position back and forth, you can adjust the relative size of objects in the scene. After you're happy with the position, you pick a camera lens whose angle of view encompasses all the objects that you want to include in the photo. Objects? Au contraire! Aesthetic tip from MIT: when your nose sticks out 5" in front of your eyes, you don't want it to appear relatively more prominent. Suppose that you actually want this photo as the "before" illustration in a plastic surgeon's advertisement. Suppose that you wish to flatter Cyrano. What about the 24mm lens from this camera position? Exactly how long a camera lens do you need? Apologies to people from countries that have adopted sensible units.
