All Too Flat : Pranks : Cube One of the most prominent landmarks in the East Village in Manhattan is a statue of a giant steel cube. The cube was built at Astor Place in 1968, and has stood there ever since. The cube can spin on its axis, which is pretty entertaining the first time, and requires a few people to get it moving. Typically surrounding the cube is an endless supply of skateboarders and Goth kids, as the cube has become a central hangout for many East Village kids and runoff from St. Marks Place. What an amazing place to pull off a prank! So in true All Too Flat style, we decided the plain black cube would look nicer as the world's largest Rubik's Cube! We were all really excited about the Rubik's Cube prank. The cube measures 8'x8'x8' (2.44m^3). It is standing on one vertex, such that the tippy top reaches around 12' in the air (see kids- geometry and trig DO have applications in real life! We were pretty sure we wanted to use cardboard to cover the cube. All told, we needed 382 square feet of cardboard.

Illustrated Bites Ten games that make you think about life At the start of this year, we decided to come up with a list of Flash casual games with a philosophical bent. To be honest, we struggled. After days of research, we could only find a handful of games that had the thought-provoking depth we were looking for. Fast forward to now, and it is remarkable how much difference a few months can make. In a wonderful twist, it seems it is the Flash gaming space - until now known more for the throwaway nature of its games rather than depth - that is leading the way in this exciting new area of gaming, as we hope the following games prove. One you have finished playing these games, check out our follow-up lists: Ten More Games That Make You Think About Life and Another 20 Games That Make You Think About Life. 1Immortall The game starts with you crash landing on a planet. 2Loved Take a cursory look at Alexander Ocias's Loved, and you could mistake it for a pretty basic platformer. 3I Can Hold My Breath Forever 4The Company of Myself 5Coma 6Loondon

Deep-Dish Chocolate Chip Cookie for One & Healthy Food For Living By Lauren Zembron, on July 20th, 2012 I know, I know… it seems as though I’ve been posting sweet recipe after sweet recipe (with a little something cheesy thrown in); but you see, after what seemed like a long time during which sweets were unappealing during my first trimester, (what can I say, pregnancy does some strange things to your body!), they’re apparently back with a vengeance on my appetite’s menu. Sooooo if you’re a sweet freak like me, all I can say about my recent recipe post pattern is: you’re welcome. And if you’re not? I’m sorry. Now let’s get to this deep-dish cookie. Jenny from Picky Palate recently posted a recipe for a microwavable chocolate chip cookie made in a ramekin that looked so unbelievably delicious I had to make my own (slightly healthier) version. I cut out half of the sugar, subbed in whole wheat pastry flour, and used grain-sweetened chocolate chips (which have less sugar than semi-sweet chips). Now I’m under no delusion that even my version is healthy.

60 Second Chocolate Chip Cookie A la Mode I had so much fun developing this recipe. Talk about kinda dangerous though. This baby is baked in 60 seconds, no lie!! You know those fabulous pizzookie’s you order at certain restaurants? In any case, Enjoy my friends!! Start by creaming your butter and sugars right in your ramekin. Just like so, light and fluffy. You’ll add a couple tablespoons of beaten egg next. A splash of vanilla please. Give another good stir of the spoon until combined. Once combined, add your dry ingredients right to the ramekin. Flour, salt and baking soda all set! Give a few stirs then…. Time for some fabulous chips! Oh yah! Top with a lovely scoop of vanilla ice cream and drizzle with my homemade magic shell! Mmmmm. To share or not to share? 60 Second Chocolate Chip Cookie A la Mode Ingredients Directions Place butter and sugars into a 2-cup ramekin, beat with spoon until well combined. Makes 1 large serving, perfect for sharing Other recipes you may enjoy...
