Quiet Book

Quiet Book
I'm really excited to share this project with you. Several months ago someone put the idea into my head that I should make some quiet books. This is one project that I've never really had the desire to do, but that little seed kept growing until one day I found myself drawing up the templates and then at JoAnn's buying the supplies. It really was an easy project, but extremely time consuming (and I was making two at once.) Here are the results: Covers and cover page Circus Monkey The balloons velcro on and the wheel turns to reveal different colors. Paint Pallet The paint splotches velcro on and you can use the paint brush to pretend to paint everything in the quiet book! Season Tree and Barn Snap on flowers for spring, green leaves for summer, and autumn leaves for fall--or take them all off for winter. I love these little finger puppets that were inspired from Homemade by Jill. to have a surprise when you open the doors. Road Map This is another one of my favorites. Weaving Tennis Racket

Felt Quiet Book: Phase One | Craft It Bake It A lovely example, sadly not mine… After the rush of Christmas and the overwhelming possibilities of things to make, January leaves me feeling a little lack luster and lost for ideas. I’m keen to keep my crafty habits up, after all, what else is there to do on my lunch hour? Therefore a new project is in order. Hooray! Luckily for me quite a few family friends are “With Child” and ready to pop so to speak. After some serious research (Pinterest) I have decided on a Felt Quiet book for baby Number Bell. I’m thinking this will give me a great opportunity to use up lots of spare felt and fabric, experiment with colours, ribbons, buttons, everything..but without the need for a sewing machine, or any real skill.. So far I know baby bell is a boy, but just incase I think I’ll go with a unsex idea. the rest of today will most be planning. usually I’m the sort to rush in and regret later. How hard can it be right? Have you made a quiet book? Watch this space! Like this: Like Loading...

I also began a massive project to sew the whole world! With a new year beginning, it’s fun to look back on the pages I made and shared with you, as I did in 2012 and 2011. Don't Call Me Betsy: Munchkin Soft Book Tutorial I couldn't believe how many people actually liked the soft book I made for my nephew last week! Thank you all! I really didn't think it was terribly special, but it was a ton of fun to put together. The sketching and planning part alone was a blast. If you've got a little one in your life, this is a great little project you can whip up for them to enjoy in nearly no time. Supplies: Notebook paper Pen Steam-a-Seam (or other fusible webbing product like Wonder Under, just make sure it's double-sided) Solid fabric for "paper" of book - 6 pieces 12" x 6" Batting - 3 pieces 12" x 6" Embroidery floss (if you plan to embroider any of the book) Various scraps of fabric How To Make Your Own Soft Book 1. Once you've chosen your concepts, cut out six pieces of paper to represent your six pieces of fabric and fold each in half. 2. 3. 4. Next, grab your batting. 5. 6. 7. Flip each page right side out, and make sure to point your corners well. 8. 9.

tutoCubesTissusBB Fold your ribbon in half, center and pin to one side of a fabric square. Lay another fabric square on top and sew down the side with 1/4 inch seam. Press seam open. (you can also machine baste your ribbon in place first, as I did on the green square, below) Repeat with the remaining 2 squares and 2 pieces of ribbon until you've got 4 pieces in a row with 3 ribbons sewn in. On the first and last square, fold fabric over to the wrong side 1/4 inch and press. With right sides together and 1/4 inch seam, sew the chenille squares to the square in position C. Now you need to start sewing sides together to form the block. Continue sewing each side to the chenille squares in the same way. Here's what you'll have when you've sewn up all the sides, except the last side where you folded over 1/4 inch. Turn your block right side out.... and fill. Pull the last 2 sides together, match where you folded the fabric, and pin. So cute! Have fun!

Sunshine, Lollipops, and Rainbows: The Quiet Book Round-up! All right! You've made it! I've subjected you to a million days of quiet book pages, and it is finally the end. Today I'm going to post all the pages, from beginning to end, so you can get a sense of how the whole book flows. So, without further ado, the quiet book! The lion page: The barn and farm animals finger puppets page: The apple tree and the dinosaur: The car page: The ladybug and the flowers: Mr. and Mrs. The weaving page: And the back! So here's some technical how-I-did it: For the base of each page, I used the standard 9x12 felt sheets. Added in May: I finally got around to finishing the loops. This was a really fun project and I highly recommend it to anyone thinking about making one! To download the entire Quiet Book template, click here or on the picture:

Blanket Tutorial From I am Momma Hear me Roar! I'm sure you all have been over to I am Momma Hear Me Roar! Cheri is so sweet and I'm so glad she let me share this tutorial with you! Just about everything she makes comes out fabulous ... and this is no exception! Here it is! When I started brainstorming about the theme "baby gifts" I wanted to think of something I would truly want to receive for a baby. This mat is guranteed to keep a baby happy and entertained. Want to add your own toys? But, the best part is....it's machine washable. Want a brief run down of how it was made? 1) I cut both the green and blue fleece to be 4' by 4'. 2) I sewed on all the goods....flowers, rocks, the sun, a branch. 3) I used two layers of batting and "quilted" it in a few different ways. 4) I trimmed the edges to be even and sewed on the satin baby blanket edging. That's basically the run-down. I told you! Oh, and P.S. {Click to enlarge!}

Feutriner, vagabonder, rêver... - Fils et Ficelles * voilà 3 gentils petits cochons en feutrine (ils font 8 cm en fait) qui garderont leur maison!*Maison: à partir du tuto de Pimp stitch; Cochons et loup: inspirés des dessins de contes Oversized Kimono Wrap Top | Rags to Couture Want to know what I did all day while putting this post together? I re-watched all episodes of Finding Bigfoot on Youtube. Seriously, It’s my favourite show! I love the Bigfoot legend and the show is so bad that it’s good! Everyone should watch it. I want Bigfoots in Sweden! Anyway, what you will need for this tutorial: A fabric measuring approximately 164 cm long and 150 cm wide. The size dimensions used in this tutorial are made for me, so if your size differ a lot from mine you will probably have to make a few adjustments. Also note that, on the illustrations, the orange markings are where you should cut and the grey markings are where you should sew. Ok, with that said, let’s move on the the actual tutorial! Start out by folding your fabric in half so that you get these measurements: Then cut out two 30×48 cm rectangle shapes on each side. Just a tip: I used the cut out parts for my belt, so don’t throw them away if you want a belt in the same material as the kimono… Oh well.

Dress-Up Crown Tutorial I made birthday crowns for my girls last year. I had intended for them to be a special birthday thing, that we got out only once a year, so they would be extra special. But, as these things go, the girls loved them, and they found a permanent home in our dress up basket. I had no idea how much the kids would love them. They are a regular feature around here. I decided to make a bunch for an art fair coming up, and put together this tutorial while I was at it. I digress. Update: Be sure to check out the Nicholas Crown Project that this tutorial inspired! Instructions: 1. 2.
