cole rise Absolutely Incredible Art made with Old Cassette Tapes | NoiseAddicts music and audio I’ve got 2 large boxes completely full of old cassette tapes (remember those?) in my closet. There are probably over 400 tapes sitting there, degrading, losing their magnetic information, slowly dissolving into silence, or perhaps more correctly, white noise. Will I ever listen to any of these again? Probably not. Heck, I don’t even own a tape player. I have no idea why I still keep them. Well, artist Erika Iris Simmons has definitely done something useful with her tapes. She is an artist who specializes in using non-traditional media such as old books, audio cassettes, playing cards, magazines, credit cards, basically whatever he can find. It feels great to work with strange, older materials. What she’s created with some old cassette tapes and reel tapes is simply remarkable. Tristan Manco A Father Who Creatively Captures His Kids (20 photos) If there was a prize that could be given out to the most creative father, I'd hope that it was awarded to Jason Lee. A wedding photographer by day, he's used to capturing some of the most important moments in a couple's lives. As a longtime fan of Jason's photos on Flickr however, I think the real magic happens when he turns the camera onto his daughters. Sure, his children are adorably cute in their own right, but that's not what makes his photos so interesting. I was able to get in touch with Jason to ask him a few questions. Q: How did you get into photography? Q: How do you come up with such creative photos of your daughters? Q: How has being on Flickr helped you with your business? Q: Any inspirational stories you'd like to share? Q: Do you have any advice for aspiring photographers? Q: Any quotes you live by? Thanks for the interview, Jason, and for letting us share in your fatherhood experience. Jason Lee's website

44 Amazing Julian Beever’s 3D Pavement Drawings Ready to kill boredom again? This time we present a wonderful collection of amazing 3d sidewalk chalk art by Julian Beever (+- all of his works). But first of all, who is Julian Beever? According to Wikipedia: “Julian Beever is an English, Belgium-based chalk artist who has been creating trompe-l’œil chalk drawings on pavement surfaces since the mid-1990s. His works are created using a projection called anamorphosis, and create the illusion of three dimensions when viewed from the correct angle.” Remember panda’s recent post called 20 Incredible Eye Macros? How to Protect your Camera in Extreme Conditions A Guest Post by Deidra Wilson. A quick glance at the car thermometer lets you know that it is 115 degrees outside. You look to your left and outside the car window, the hot desert air is a swirling mess of blowing dust and sand. You’re in Death Valley and the light is epic. But there is another side to you, the side that made you research tirelessly to get the best price on the best gear. There are ways to protect your gear in nearly any scenario, which will make you more comfortable while shooting, and that typically translates to better images. Hot Weather You want to keep your gear as cool as possible in this scenario. If temperatures are soaring over 100°, you need to occasionally give your gear a break. When dealing with extreme heat, you also run the risk of drying out the seals that keep your gear protected from other elements, such as moisture and dust. Do not, however, cool the gear down abruptly. Cold Weather A major problem with cold weather shooting is battery life.

‚I take pictures like a tourist, mostly to create nice images and souvenirs but I feel like those images cannibalize my memory.
