Digital storytelling Digital storytelling refers to a short form of digital media production that allows everyday people to share aspects of their life story. "Media" may include the digital equivalent of film techniques (full-motion video with sound), animation, stills, audio only, or any of the other forms of non-physical media (material that exists only as electronic files as opposed to actual paintings or photographs on paper, sounds stored on tape or disc, movies stored on film) which individuals can use to tell a story or present an idea. Introduction[edit] "Digital storytelling" is a relatively new term which describes the new practice of ordinary people who use digital tools to tell their 'story'. One can define digital storytelling as the process by which diverse peoples share their life story and creative imaginings with others. One can think of digital storytelling as the modern extension of the ancient art of storytelling, now interwoven with digitized still and moving images and sound.

12 Ways to Improve Your Digital Storytelling I recently was reading Sally Hogshead’s latest book, How the World Sees You, when I was shocked by one of her insights. More specifically: an insight gleaned from her assessment tool meant to describe how I influence other people. I know I’m an analytical guy, and the assessment confirmed this. “You aren’t usually the life of the party at your annual get-together. Sally’s assessment hurts (primarily because it’s true). This led me down a rabbit hole of sorts: how do I compensate for the fact that peppering statistics into cocktail conversation doesn’t endear me to others? What I want to do it share twelve best practices that you can use to improve your storytelling. Why is storytelling important? Setting, plot, characters, conflict and theme. The setting: the swarmy digital enclave known as the Internet. The characters: Me, Tsu, Firefox The conflict: This will never work. The theme: The thought that Tsu could become a major social network is quite implausible. 1. “What are the stakes? 2.

Poetry | CIE Literature Poetry is a major component of both iGCSE and A-Level Literature. It’s something that usually puts the fear of God into students and leads to a good deal of ineffectual moaning. Unfortunately, moaning isn’t going to help you, so try to embrace it and ignore temptations to dismiss it as nonsense… Hopefully, with the help of my notes and analysis, you’ll enjoy the poems covered and understand that studying them is not as painful as it at first seems. On this site you will find: - Analysis of Christina Rossetti: Selected Poems – (A2-level) - Analysis of Songs of Ourselves: Part 1 – (AS-Level) - Analysis of Songs of Ourselves: Part 4 – (iGCSE) - What you need to know about a poem - Beginner’s Guide to Poetic Terminology - How to revise effectively - Tips on how to answer questions - Tips on how to structure essays - Example essays - Past/Example questions

Reading Skills & Strategies Posters I’ve been wanting to create Reading Skills and Strategies Posters since the beginning of the year. I started a set in September or October, but didn’t have time to complete them at that point in the year. I’m on a kick of trying to improve things this year so I can have more in place next year at the beginning of the year. I created the posters to be reference points for myself and my students throughout the year. I pulled these skills strategies from several sources. Each organizer has the title, a prompt (a question related to skill or strategy) a sample graphic organizer and sentence frames (when applicable) to help students respond to the prompt in a complete sentences. When I teach reading comprehension, I usually provide my students with the vocabulary and sentence structure they need to answer the questions I’m going to ask them about the text. Also included are additional display cards for types of figurative language and genres. These are available in my TpT store.

Strategies To Support Multicultural Instruction Essential for developing multicultural/diverse perspective learnings is a positive and trusting classroom environment - one in which all students are made to feel welcome, comfortable, and respected. Listed below are several strategies that are particularly useful in promoting multicultural/diverse perspective learnings in such a classroom. Questioning Styles Questioning techniques that personally involve students will allow them to respond in a way that reflects their cultural diversity and that will expose their fellow students to those differences (Evans, 1991). Role-Playing Role-playing is a versatile activity that allows students to express their opinions in a realistic situation. Role-playing enables students to express and to examine their attitudes, beliefs, and feelings about prejudice and discrimination. Cooperative Learning Many years of research and practice support the use of cooperative groups to focus on students' different strengths and styles. Group Discussions
