The Most Frightening Bridge Ever
Storseisundet Bridge (Norwegian: Storseisundetbrua) is the longest of the eight bridges that make up the Atlanterhavsveien (“The Atlantic Road”), the road connection from the mainland Romsdal peninsula to the island of Averøya in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. It is a bridge on one of Norway’s most scenic and popular tourist roads – the Atlantic Ocean Road (Atlanterhavsveien in Norwegian). The bridge named Storseisundet makes a sharp bend as it jumps over a number of small islands and waterways. The approach to the bridge looks scary as the bridge seems to end abruptly and as if any attempt to proceed would result into the vehicle flying out and dropping into the waters below. Storseisundet Bridge is a cantilever bridge that is 260 metres (850 ft) long and with a maximum clearance to the sea of 23 metres (75 ft). It was opened on 7 July 1989, and it was a toll road until June 1999.

I think one of the reasons that many are skeptical about environmental design is because they think its terribly complex and costly. It does take a bit more effort on the front end, but it's definitely not rocket science. This architecture by Guz Architects is a wonderfully developed minimalistic design with a curvilinear flare that really brings out the organic coverings. I'm most impressed with how design facilitates the needs of the plants and shrubs located throughout the house.

National Geographic is currently holding its annual photo contest, with the deadline for submissions coming up on November 30. For the past nine weeks, the society has been gathering and presenting galleries of submissions, encouraging readers to vote for them as well. Conceptual interior designer Ismini Karali and her team launched the design of the Rich Reloaded 2011 café-bar-restaurant recently at Glyfada, Athens, Greece. The new project focus on art, optical illusions through different shapes and the love of reading books. Rich is a 360-seat café-bar-restaurant, located at the most fashionable district of southern outskirts. It opened its doors in November ’11, after a complete renovation. "The idea was to transform the “ex-Rich” to a brand-new modern hotspot of the town. But this was a general rule that all the clients use to ask from us.

In fact, we can not quite imagine the issues that faced Steven Harris Architects when the family showed up, literally, at the doorstep of the celebrated architect and asked if he’d like to work on their home. Harris said yes and proceeded to make his magic. The scale of the apartment is huge and the freedom from budget constraints allowed for some spectacular solutions. Harris’s work is often distinguished by clarity and light, by the use of glass, by the maximization of views and, above all, bold solutions.
