LiberTIC Yleisten kartastotöiden strategia 2011-2020 valmistunut | Maanmittauslaitos Maa- ja metsätalousministeriö on julkaissut kartastotöiden strategian alkaneelle vuosikymmenelle. Maastotietojärjestelmä kovaan käyttöön määrittelee linjauksia ja rajauksia, joiden mukaisesti yleiseen käyttöön tarkoitettuja valtakunnallisia maastotietoja ja -karttoja ja sekä niihin liittyviä palveluita tuotetaan. Vuoden 2020 tavoitetilassa maastotietojärjestelmä on vakiintunut ja hyvin toimiva järjestelmä, jota ylläpidetään tehokkaasti ja hyödynnetään laajasti julkisen hallinnon, elinkeinoelämän ja kansalaisten piirissä. Sen tiedot ja palvelut ovat laadukkaita ja helposti kytkettävissä erilaisiin käyttösovelluksiin. Strategiassa todetaan, että teknologian kehittymisen myötä kartat ovat tarkentuneet ja muuttuneet sähköisessä muodossa olevaksi paikkatiedoksi. Keskeisiä toimijoita strategian toimeenpanossa ovat Maanmittauslaitos ja Geodeettinen laitos. Maastotietojärjestelmä on yksi tietoyhteiskunnan keskeinen perustietovaranto ja kansallisen paikkatietoinfrastruktuurin perusta.

In my years of programming in Python and roaming around GitHub's Explore section, I've come across a few libraries that stood out to me as being particularly enjoyable to use. This blog post is an effort to further spread that knowledge. I specifically excluded awesome libs like requests, SQLAlchemy, Flask, fabricetc. because I think they're already pretty "main-stream". 1. pyquery (with lxml) pip install pyquery For parsing HTML in Python, Beautiful Soup is oft recommended and it does a great job. What immediately stands out is how fast lxml is. So either slow and easy to use or fast and hard to use, right? Wrong! the 5 stars of open linked data While perusing the minutes of today’s w3c egov telecon I noticed mention of Tim Berners-Lee’s Bag of Chips talk at the gov2.0 expo last week in Washington, DC. I actually enjoyed the talk not so much for the bag-of-chips example (which is good), but for the examination of Linked Data as part of a continuum of web publishing activities associated with gold stars, like the ones you got in school. Here they are: I think it’s helpful to think of Linked Data in this context, and not to minimize (or trivialize) the effort and the importance of getting the first 3 stars. It was interesting that he didn’t mention RDF once (unless I missed it) and talked instead about Linked Data Format.
