CLAESSON KOIVISTO RUNE

Eun-Gyeong Gwon & Eun-Jae Lee & Yanko Design This one’s kinda hard to swallow so take a deep breath, open your minds, and pretend it’s 2100. I CONTACT is essentially a mouse fitted to your eyeball. The lens is inserted like any other normal contact lens except it’s laced with sensors to track eye movement, relaying that position to a receiver connected to your computer. Theoretically that should give you full control over a mouse cursor. I’d imagine holding a blink correlates to mouse clicks. The idea was originally created for people with disabilities but anyone could use it. Designers: Eun-Gyeong Gwon & Eun-Jae Lee

Oktavilla / Elding Oscarson Architect: Elding Oscarson Location: Stockholm, Sweden Structural Engineer: Konkret Builder: Nils Bengtsson Bygg / Storskog Bygg & Montage Floor Area: 160 sqm Project Year: 2009 Photographer: Åke E:son Lindman This design bureau for magazines and web is housed in an old textile manufacturing hall in the very center of Stockholm. They loved the naked, lofty and bright spaces, but needed to alter it drastically to make it operable for their business. Dividing the space with a wall gives a very bright and large meeting room, as well as a clean rectangular room for the rest of the program. By finding the right balance between a very large pane of glass in the wall and a construction method for the wall that makes it feel both temporary and solid, the spatial atmosphere of an uninterrupted row of windows is kept while the rectangular geometries of the rooms are clearly defined.

Glass House / Unit Arkitektur AB Architects: Unit Arkitektur AB Location: Träslövsläge, Sweden Design Principal: Mikael Frej + Klas Moberg Project Architects: Frans Magnusson Client: Karin and Sven-Olav Floor area: 250 sqm (Glass House), 70 sqm (House inside Glass House) Project year: 2006-2011 Photographs: Krister Engström, Unit Arkitektur This project is not about form. It is about creating something that Sweden can´t offer – a nice climate! It has been verified that the space inside the glass house has the same climate as Sevilla in southern Spain. In Träslövsläge just south of Varberg on the Swedish west coast Karin and Sven-Olav acquired a parcel of farmland. This property is located along an old village street with a vast open field behind. The solution was to frame the courtyard with a 250 sqm greenhouse and place a smaller 70 sqm building inside. The plan was reorganized so that the existing main building houses the bedrooms in order to avoid complicated technical installations in an old building.

Welcome to StairSteady.net - The home of The StairSteady Pagoden / Semrén & Månsson Architects: Semrén & Månsson AB Location: Gullbergsvass, Gothenburg, Sweden Area: 10,600.0 sqm Year: 2012 Photographs: Krister Engström In December 2012 Semrén & Månsson and ByggGöta received the Per & Alma Olssons award for successfully renovating the well-known building Pagoden in Gothenburg. After many years of being empty and abandoned, the building has now been given a new life. By an almost surgical intervention, the dark core has been transformed into a new, light, multiple story atria. This forms an open connection in the building and solves the problem of the large dimensions. Pagoden was originally built to house the tobacco warehouse and offices for the Tobaksmonopolet (The Swedish Tobacco Monopoly) at the Gothenburg high seas harbour. Within the limits of the historical and antiquarian prerequisites an open, bright and contemporary office space has been created. * Location to be used only as a reference.
