The Dyson Technology Experience and the Dyson Air... It has been a strange spring and summer around here in the Midwest. First it seemed like winter was just never going to end and the days of jackets and hats dragged on forever. Then, in the span of what felt like two days, we are now stuck with 90°+ temperatures that make you feel as though you are going to melt into a puddle on the sidewalk the moment you step outside. So, other than hide out inside in the air conditioning, how are we keeping cool? With none other than the most innovative fan around: the Dyson Air Multiplier. Before having the opportunity to try out the Dyson Air Multiplier in our home, we were able to get a sneak peek in the form of the Dyson Technology Experience, a tour that Dyson is taking around the country to cool off the United States. This touring exhibit allows people to get hands-on with Dyson machines and really see how amazing these bladeless fans are - both in terms of safety as well as ease of cleaning. The answer? Okay, yuck.
Thing in a Jar - StumbleUpon Thing in a Jar 7 inches by 4 inches, mason jar Pictured above is the Thing in a Jar that's usually sitting in my office at work. The coolest thing about the Thing is that everyone responds to seeing it by asking questions. Where did I find it? The Thing in a Jar is made out of Sculpey, acryllic paint and rubber cement. This is the third Thing in a Jar I've made. Here's a conceptual sketch I made of this Thing before I sculpted it. 1.5 by 2.5 inches, ballpoint pen Usually when I make a Thing in a Jar, I try to keep the shape ambiguous enough so that the viewer cannot really pin down exactly what they're looking at. The glass jar acts as a physical barrier, preventing the viewer from directly accessing its contents. I think this is much cooler than, for example, a painting, which basically has this big implicit sign hanging off of it that says, "I am just a painting of an object, not the object itself. Viewers of The Thing in a Jar do not have this preconception. Update OK here's what you do.

We don’t know this person, but snopes verified as true. It is not known who replied, but there is a beautiful soul working in the dead letter office of the US postal service. Our 14 year old dog, Abbey, died last month. Dear God, Will you please take care of my dog? Love, Meredith We put the letter in an envelope with a picture of Abbey and Meredith and addressed it to God/Heaven. Yesterday, there was a package wrapped in gold paper on our front porch addressed, ‘To Meredith’ in an unfamiliar hand.. Dear Meredith, Abbey arrived safely in heaven. Having the picture was a big help. Thank you for the beautiful letter and thank your mother for helping you write it and sending it to me. Love, God

New research finds that these hungry brain cells then release "feed me" signals, which drive hunger, slow metabolism and may cause diets to fail. When the researchers created mice whose brain cells couldn't send out the signals, or appetite-increasing proteins, and these mice were leaner and ate less than normal after being starved. "We generated a mouse that lacked this process in these neurons," study researcher Rajat Singh, of Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx, New York, said. The results likely would apply to humans, as mice are often used as biological models for us, the researchers say; even so, further research is needed to confirm the same process occurs in humans.
