numen/for use installs inhabitable string sculpture inside inflatable bubble feb 05, 2014 numen/for use installs inhabitable string sculpture inside inflatable bubble numen/for use installs inhabitable string sculpture inside inflatable bubbleall images courtesy of numen/for use croatian-austrian design collective numen/for use have designed a prototype for a self supporting inhabitable social sculpture, built within an inflatable volume. the interior of the installation is filled — from one side to the other — with thin parallel ropes tied on opposite ends of the volume, aligned to one another. when the volume is deflated, the ropes lay loosely and lay on the ground, enabling the string sculpture to be completely compressed. following inflation, the ropes tense to a perfect line again, strained enough to carry the weight of a multiple human beings. nina azzarello I designboom
