In previous posts I showed you how to install Tiger and Leopard on your boring PC and cut its chains of slavery to Windows operating systems. Installing Tiger involved quite a bit of work, and may have taken someone with advanced knowledge of computer software an entire weekend to perfect. Drivers were hard to come by, and it was largely luck of the draw if you were able to get your particular hardware to work with Tiger. Leopard was an evolutionary step forward, automating much of the process and having great compatibility with PC architecture. More modern devices are supported automatically, both through default Leopard software, and from the lovely folks who compiled these hacks in order to liberate OSX for the masses. Perception puzzles, Visual Perception, Optical illusions and Paradoxes This page illustrates that our visual perception cannot always be trusted. The components of an object can distort the perception of the complete object. Our mind is the final arbiter of truth. Most optical illusions are the result of 1) incongruent design elements at opposite ends of parallel lines, 2) influence of background patterns on the overall design, 3) adjustment of our perception at the boundaries of areas of high contrast, 4) afterimages resulting from eye movements or from kinetic displays, or 5) inability to interpret the spatial structure of an object from the context provided by the picture. I was interested in seeing what this unit was like, considering that most complaints stemmed from the inadequate battery life of the 3-cell version, which was also evident to me. Here are some comparison pictures to help you decide whether the extra bulk is worth the additional run time. My opinion follows. Update I’ve since completed my full review of the Aspire One. With the 3-cell battery you’re going to get less than three hours of run time on the Aspire One. This was with the wireless LAN enabled and the screen at just over half-way brightness. Thankfully, that’s where the 6-cell comes into play. Check out the rest of the photos here. The 6-cell battery also adds some more tilt/slope to the Aspire One so that it’s more inclined towards you; supposedly this results at a better angle for typing but I didn’t perceive things to be better or worse after this.
Online Exchange This is a FM8 file handler plug-in for RPG City Map Generator *.sgs save files. To install just unzip the file into your Fractal Mapper 8 directory. After you have installed the plugin *.sgs will show up as file type that can be opened in Fractal Mapper 8. There will also be a new option In the File menu titled "RPGCG Import Settings". This will let you change many of the import settings including the building styles and colors. The checkboxes turn colors selections on or off and the sliders set the frequency of a color combination being used. The building styles work the same way as colors. The maps imported with this script are not intended to be used "as is", they will need some attention and tweaking but it sure beats creating the whole thing from scratch. RPGCGImport v2.23 works with RPGCG version 4.30 to 5.40 save files. *Note: I did not write the City Generator.
