TYIN tegnestue

Public Architecture TYIN tegnestue Gerb. Heinemann SE & co is one of the worlds largest corporations in duty free retail. They have stores at most european airports with international traffic. The project has two main objectives. We began the process by searching for an old, traditional log house typical for the Trondheim-area. With this project we attempt to display our core values and our way of design, our love for simplicity in details and material choice, at the very heart of the commercial world.

Through the course of the last year TYIN has worked with planning and constructing small scale projects in Thailand. In the fall of 2008 TYIN traveled to Noh Bo, a small village on the Thai-Burmese border. A few months prior we came in touch with Ole Jørgen Edna from Levanger, Norway. The main driving force behind the project was to somehow recreate what these children would have experienced in a more normal situation. Because of their appearances the buildings were named Soe Ker Tie Hias by the workers; The Butterfly Houses. The iron wood construction is prefabricated and assembled on-site, using bolts to ensure reasonable precision and strength. Jun 2009 section situation plan by dpr-bcn

iGNANT Cassia Coop Training Centre is a unique centre with ambitions of being better than its competitors, not only in quality, but first and foremost in ethics. Designed and built by TYIN tegnestue Architects, a non-profit organization made up of architects and students from Trondheim’s Norwegian University of Science and Technology, the centre wishes to set a new standard in how to run a socially well functioning enterprise; local cinnamon farmers and workers will receive proper payment, a decent healthcare program and have access to schools and education. In addition, the factories of Cassia Coop will be sanitary and safe. The main idea behind the project is the classic concept of a light wooden construction on a base of heavy brick and concrete. BaseHabitat TYIN: Soe Ker Tie Haus The 60 year long conflict in Burma forced several hundred thousand people to flee from their homes. The conflict leaves many children orphaned, with little hope for the future. Ole Jorgen Edna had opened an orphanage in Noh Bo in 2006 and was in need of more dormitories. The orphanage sheltered 24 children, however the intention was to house around 50. The main driving force behind the Soe Ker Tie House was to provide the children with their own private space, a place that they could call home and a space for interaction and play. Tyin tegnestue Architects, Soe Ker Tie House, Noh Bo, Tak, Thailand The Soe Ker Tie House is a blend between local skills and Tyin’s architectural knowledge. The specially shaped roof of the Soe Ker Tie Houses promotes natural ventilation within the sleeping units and at the same time rainwater can be collected and stored for the dry season.
