PirateBox Un PirateBox es un dispositivo electrónico portátil, que a menudo consiste en un enrutador y un dispositivo de almacenamiento, la creación de una red inalámbrica que permite a los usuarios que están conectados compartir archivos de forma anónima y de manera local. Por definición, este dispositivo no está conectado a Internet. Historia[editar] Este tipo de dispositivo fue diseñado el año 2011 por David Darts, un profesor de la Steinhardt School of Culture, Education and Human Development de la Universidad de Nueva York bajo la licencia Licence Art Libre. Desde su creación se ha popularizado su uso en Europa Occidental, sobre todo en Francia por Jean Debaecker. Su desarrollo se mantiene en gran parte por Matthias Strubel. Second NLUS Workshop in Oslo | Network on Libraries in Urban Space On 24 to 25 August 2015 the second workshop of the Network on Libraries in Urban Space takes place in Oslo. Main objectives are to discuss the current state of research and to elaborate a joint research proposal and to evaluate possibilities for further cooperation in the network. the workshop started with a presentation by Ragnar Audunson on Oslo as a City of Public Libraries.

Der Horizon Report > 2015 Library Edition ist hier! | Rudolf Mumenthaler's Homepage Heute wurde die zweite Ausgabe des Horizon Report Library Edition veröffentlicht. In einem Online-Panel werden um 16 Uhr MEZ die HerausgeberInnen über die Ergebnisse diskutieren. Wer live dabei sein möchte, kann sich hier registrieren: Den englischen Report gibt es hier zum Download: Dieses Jahr wird es wohl keine deutsche Übersetzung geben. Aber wir planen andere Möglichkeiten, die Themen auch in der deutschsprachigen Community vorzustellen und zu diskutieren. 2015 Library Edition The NMC, the University of Applied Sciences (HTW) Chur, the German National Library of Science and Technology (TIB), Hannover, and ETH-Bibliothek Zürich, are jointly releasing the NMC Horizon Report > 2015 Library Edition during a special online event. This is the second edition of the NMC Horizon Report that explores the realm of academic and research libraries in a global context. Six key trends, six significant challenges, and six important developments in educational technology are identified across three adoption horizons over the next one to five years, giving library leaders and staff a valuable guide for strategic planning. Network on Libraries in Urban Space | LIS in Potsdam HiOA – dept. of Archivistics, Library and Information Science Our NLUS Network has had a workshop this week (24.-25.8.2015) at the Høgskolen i Oslo og Akershus. (A norwegian Fachhochschule – but what a difference to the German FHs!) The network initially called “Libraries in Urban Change” came into light during the Potsdam conference City of Flows in 2012 where I had invited Nathalie Valet (Univ. of Antwerpen) to talk about the Strategic Footprint of Public Libraries in Urban Development. We agreed upon continuing this topic and Nathalie could publish her article delivered at the conference in the well known journal Library Management. During the CoLIS 8 conference in Copenhagen 2013 I convinced Henrik Jochumsen, Casper Hvenegaard Rasmussen, Carl Gustav Johannsen and Dorte Skot-Hansen to join the small team which had already been enlarged by the swiss colleagues from Chur. In 2014 the network could held a first workshop in Chur which I could not attend because of the ongoing semester.
