Make your meetings memorable Sublime photos of weird, wonderful and rare animals Caroline Morley, online picture researcher (Image: Robert Heischman/ZSL) What do a manatee, a gharial and a blue whale have in common? In addition to their endangered status, they are all subjects of the prizewinning photos in the Zoological Society of London's first Animal Photography Prize. Photographer Robert Heischman captured the photo above of a gharial - a crocodile with a slender snout from India and neighbouring countries. He said: "I love gharials for how sharp and angular they are, so when I saw this individual holding his head at such a steep angle, I knew I had an interesting shot on my hands." And he was right, the photo won the adult section of the Weird and Wonderful category. The competition consisted of seven categories for adults and children with a total prize fund of £10,000.
