DIY String Art Hi guys! Dina here from Honey & Fitz back with another tutorial. This time I’m showing you how to make some string art for your little one’s room! Rather than deal with hammers and cutting wood, I decided to do this project using cork tiles. Here are the supplies you’ll need: Cork tiles // Linoleum Nails // 3M Hanging Strips // Contact Cement Stack the cork tiles on top of each other and use your contact cement to glue them together. I really wanted the look of a white background for my string art so I decided to paint the cork. Once the paint has dried, flip your cork tile over and apply your hanging strips. Create your template using whatever font you like. When you’ve traced the entire template, carefully remove the paper. Tie your string in a double knot onto your first nail now, and start weaving in a back and forth fashion. When you reach the end of your letter, tie another double knot onto your last nail. What do you think?

Threading My Way: Denim Fabric Baskets Tutorial... A few days ago, I showed you these fabric baskets that I had made using the legs of an old pair of jeans. They are just so quick and easy to make. Here's the how to, so you can make your own denim fabric baskets using pre-loved jeans. Materials: Choose a section of the leg of the jeans where the top and bottom of your cut piece are the same width. If your jeans are shaped and you cannot get a piece that is the same width top and bottom, you will need to unpick one seam and cut the fabric. The instructions are for jeans that can be used without the need to unpick the seams. Stay-at-Home Artist: stencil with freezer paper (harry potter tee)... Yes, I am a nerd. I came up with a brilliant idea for a Harry Potter t-shirt and I couldn't resist. "Expecto Patronum!" However, you can make whatever kind of design you want with a freezer paper stencil. I learned about the joys of freezer paper back in my early college days. Basically, freezer paper is backed with a plastic coating that will stick to soft surfaces when ironed, but it peels off cleanly and easily. To make a sweet t-shirt you will need: paper & pencil a t-shirt an iron a piece of cardboard or poster board fabric paint & brush Start by drawing your design on some regular old paper. My design kept getting bigger, so I taped two sheets together. Next, place your design underneath a sheet of freezer paper and trace it neatly with a sharpie. The marker gives your lines greater width making it easier to cut them out and paint them in later. Now place a piece of cardboard under your freezer paper to protect your table while you cut. Important: Set these shapes aside.

50 Things You Should Stop Buying & Start Making As a society, we have become over-reliant on “ready made” products. We have lost the ability to make things from scratch. Rather than blend up some peanuts to make delicious, tasty and fresh peanut butter, we’ll spend many dollars on a jar from the store that contains artificial preservatives, unnecessary packaging and that simply lines the pockets of huge, unethical multinational corporations. Aside from foods, you can also make your own personal care products, beauty and make up products, cleaning products and home accessories that taste, work or look better than store bought, without the harmful chemicals and toxins and free from excessive, earth damaging packaging. Foods Homemade Ketchup – This ketchup won’t brake the bank, tastes better than the real deal and contains no added sugar – so it’s nutritionally good for the whole family.
