One of the great features that was introduced with Captivate 5 is the ability to use Slide Video. This video import type allows you to span the video file over multiple slides allowing for the development of sophisticated video interactions. The only other way that video can be used is by importing a FLV or F4V file to one slide. Modules and plugins The Remote Learner Adobe Connect Pro activity module provides the officially sponsored integration method between Moodle and Adobe Connect Pro. It was developed in conjunction with the Remote-Learner development team and Adobe Inc. It is designed to simplify the use of synchronous events within Moodle. The module allows users to create Adobe Connect Pro meetings by adding an activity instance and providing the meeting name, url (optional), start time, end time, meeting template and a public or private meeting setting. There is also support for Moodle groups so that users who are only a part of a group can join meetings that are only for their Moodle group. Any user who creates or joins a meeting will have their account created on the Adobe Connect server (if one doesn't exist) and they will be signed in automatically using HTTP header authentication. This module creates 3 roles: Adobe Connect Host, Presenter and Participant in Moodle to reflect the roles on the Adobe Connect server.

Tools for the Common Core Standards Phil Daro, Bill McCallum, Jason Zimba A Grecian urn You have just purchased an expensive Grecian urn and asked the dealer to ship it to your house. In the Common Core State Standards, individual statements of what students are expected to understand and be able to do are embedded within domain headings and cluster headings designed to convey the structure of the subject. Standards for a Grecian Urn The pieces are designed to fit together, and the standards document fits them together, presenting a coherent whole where the connections within grades and the flows of ideas across grades are as visible as the story depicted on the urn. The analogy with the urn only goes so far; the Standards are a policy document, after all, not a work of art. Fragmenting the Standards into individual standards, or individual bits of standards, erases all these relationships and produces a sum of parts that is decidedly less than the whole. Sometimes a remix is as good as or better than the original.
SCORM Explained What is SCORM? SCORM is a set of technical standards for e-learning software products. SCORM tells programmers how to write their code so that it can “play well” with other e-learning software. It is the de facto industry standard for e-learning interoperability. Specifically, SCORM governs how online learning content and Learning Management Systems (LMSs) communicate with each other. SCORM does not speak to instructional design or any other pedagogical concern, it is purely a technical standard. Can you help me with an example or analogy? Let’s take DVDs for example. The SCORM standard makes sure that all e-learning content and LMSs can work with each other, just like the DVD standard makes sure that all DVDs will play in all DVD players.
