Trading Card Creator The Trading Card tool gives students an alternative way to demonstrate their literacy knowledge and skill when writing about popular culture texts or real world examples. This interactive allows students to create their own trading card about a real or fictional person, place, object, event, or abstract concept. These cards are can be used with any type of book students are reading or subjects that they are studying, and make for an excellent prewriting exercise for students who are writing narrative stories and need to consider characters, setting, and plot. Picture Match Picture Match is designed to give new readers practice with identifying beginning-letter and short- and long-vowels sounds through a simple, fun game. Updated in 2008, the game features all letters of the alphabet. In the beginning-letter sounds section, a picture of an object (for example, a car) is displayed, and students are prompted to choose the letter that corresponds with the first letter of the word. In the short- and long-vowel sounds sections, students are prompted to choose the vowel that corresponds with the word. If students choose the correct match, they get words of encouragement and a new picture. Create An Interactive, Label-Based Image Quiz! Thanks to Larry Ferlazzo for sharing this resource! ImageQuiz is a fantastic new website that lets users create image-based quizzes with ease. Just upload your image, choose a title, and begin tagging the locations of the labels. Tagging works by drawing on the image to define what the quiz should test people on, and then labeling each of those tags. It is very easy to use and has a basic, simple interface and best of all – no signup required! This means you can get students to create their own quizzes without worrying about them having to create accounts and then forgetting the passwords…

229 FREE Pronunciation Worksheets Pronunciation - sometimes known as “pro-nuhn-see-EY-shuhn” - is one of the simplest ESL topics to explain, at least in theory; and also one of the hardest for students to get exactly right. As you know, there’s a big gap between grammatical fluency and native-sounding speech - and even long before that, in ESL levels one and two, it’s crucial to make sure students pronounce their vocabulary words in ways that’ll be easily understandable to native speakers. But sometimes, they just can’t seem to hear the difference between their pronunciation and yours - which can be a tough barrier to break through.

Dixit – a nice game for the end of a course I haven’t updated my blog for a while, but I was quite busy passing my driving licence test, enjoying May minibreak (we had a week off!) and now making tests, correcting tests, writing certificates… oh, the joyous time for the teachers! So, in order to make our life easier I want to share a really nice board game called Dixit.
