Ethereal Digital Paintings Loneliness never looked so depressingly good. Variations of glittered deformations form the basis for a grotesquely beautiful motif in the works of Japanese artist 非(xhxix). Digitally sketching, drawing, and painting everything using Photoshop alone, 非 visualizes loneliness in his subjects and decorates them with scars, layers of geometric abstractions and floral imagery. As most of his subjects are young men, the artist explains that “boys are more suitable to express loneliness as women are emotional and powerful.” Concocting images of isolated pain and an ethereal sadness into haunting depictions of young western men, 非 reveals a mystified insight into the depths of the Japanese psyche. Shooting Angels Solo Exhibition Apparently Guy Denning, our artist of the week, started using oil paints at aged 11, later learning techniques from older artists after being turned down for Art College. It certainly led to a unique style and vision that has won the self-taught English contemporary painter many admirers. His early works are influenced by the likes of Franz Kline, creating abstract paintings before moving into the figurative style we have come to love. Guy Denning has a dynamic way of capturing his figures, allowing them to portray the raw emotions he is expressing in his artworks. His studio and urban art regularly incorporate text into the layers of paint, adding an earthy street feel to the final images, which are regularly political and social in nature. Los estrambóticos vehículos de Mad Max vistos por el ilustrador Scott Park Ya vimos en algún post anterior que el mundo del cine, tan rebosante de iconos visuales, se ha convertido en una buena fuente de inspiración para muchos artistas gráficos. Sea por géneros, por escenas o, como en este caso, centrándose en una única película, lo cierto es que periódicamente nos dan material para reseñar. Está claro que una película como Mad Max posee un potencial especial para un ilustrador. Es decir, nada que ver con una saga que fue barroquizándose (y encareciéndose) progresivamente en sus secuelas y que en esta última entrega (de nuevo dirigida por Miller) continúa en esa línea actualizándola para las nuevas generaciones, sin Gibson, aunque con Charlize Theron. Uno de ellos es el canadiense Scott Park, un creativo de publicidad e ilustrador de Toronto, autor de una serie de carteles que, bajo el título genérico Mad World, representan nada menos que treinta y tres vehículos distintos aparecidos en el film. Muchas veces ignoramos el proceso de creación de un icono al pensar que es un elemento pequeño que pasa desapercibido, pero nada más lejos de la realidad. Un icono debe representar un elemento comprensible para el usuario. Todos sabemos cuales son los iconos de “play”,”teléfono” y demás, pero hay iconos más complicados que deben estar bien planteados y bien realizados para que puedan ser reconocidos a primera vista. Bienvenue dans le monde étrange de Mandril… Il y a de ces artistes étonnants dont on apprécie croiser la route. Marc Ferrario, alias Mandril, est un jeune artiste d’origine Suisse. Plusieurs de ses œuvres sont colossales, en témoigne sa dernière réalisation au nom chaud-froid de Steam-Babel. « Allons, moulons des briques et cuisons-les au four. Mandril, c’est aussi une série d’œuvres où se mêlent ses centres d’intérêts et ses craintes quant à la sciences, au mysticisme, à l’ère industrielle des villes tentaculaires.
