This map is both a snapshot of London's literary history and beautiful in its own right. More than 250 novels were mined in order to make the Literary London Map, taken from the Literary London Art Collection. It was created by graphic artist Dex in collaboration with interior designer Anna Burles. Each character has been plotted in the corners of the city they most liked to roam or chose to call home (sometimes on Her Majesty’s Pleasure). You can order prints of the map here and here. Talking Digital Literacy with Howard Rheingold Yesterday I attended an event with Howard Rheingold as the keynote speaker. Rheingold is best known for his work at The Well (one of the first virtual communities) and his 2002 book Smartmobs, a forecast of the always-on era. Rheingold talked about Digital Literacy at the University of Utrecht, who organized this event together with the main Dutch platform for media literacy called MediaWijzer. Dr. Eugene M. Izhikevich Dr. Eugene M. Izhikevich is a computational neuroscientist known for his contributions to the theory of spiking networks. He pioneered a novel approach to spiking neurons that combines biological plausibility with efficient implementation. In 2005, he implemented the largest thalamo-cortical model, simulating the same number of neurons and synapses as the human brain.

That’s according to a new report by the Institute for the Future, a nonprofit think tank that has released a set of five predictions for the ways tech will change the future. Personal data will continue to be shared, bought and sold at an ever-quickening pace, perhaps with more benefits to consumers. In the future, people might be able to personally sell info about their shopping habits or health activities to retailers or pharmaceutical companies, according the report. The Internet of Things is also expected to continue to expand, with predictions that everything from cars to coffee cups will be connected to the Internet by 2025.
