Linen Remake - with tutorial / how-to! Summer is here! As much as I'm starting to get into sewing quick t-shirts from jersey (tutorial coming up!), the best thing to wear on a hot day is loose linen or silk tops. This shirt was handed down to me from my generous husband (who dislikes the fast wrinkling...). It was in good shape, just -well- a man's cut and size... I know pin-tucks are usually placed closer to the center, but I didn't want to take off the collar and I needed to get rid of some excess width on the shoulders anyway, so I placed them further out than normal. It was a quick project and gave me the chance to finally start using some of those pressure feet I never use, as well as some specialty stitches from my machine. 1. At the first fitting I folded the collar under to see how I liked it with just the collar stand (and to see whether it was in good enough shape to be used as my future collar. I also determined how far down I wanted the pin-tucks to go. 2. 3. Now the fun starts! 5. 6. 7. Have a nice summer!

Circle Pocket Skirt Tutorial/Pattern/How-To Welcome to my skirt tutorial! Here is a HOW-TO for this cute skirt with half-circle pockets: It features a visible zipper in the back and satin tape finishings: You will be surprised how simple it is to make this skirt. Materials needed: Make the waist band pattern pieces: Divide the waist measurement and bottom of waistband measurement into 4 and draw a rhombus like this: tape together two pieces of paper, line the two pattern pieces up with the taped sides like this: Trace the two pattern pieces. You should now walk the new shape to be sure the measurements have not changed dramatically. This does NOT include seam allowances. Cut fusible lining for all the waist pieces, NOT using an allowance at the top, but on the sides and bottom. Iron the fusible lining pieces to the lining fabric as well as the fashion fabric and cut out. Make the skirt pattern piece: Next you will make the skirt piece. Cut these pieces also in your lining fabric, but only use a normal seam allowance for the hem. Sew.
