First, you had to take out a bank loan to pay the extortionate charges that your phone company wanted to charge you. Then you dialed your number, and after getting cut off a few times, you finally manage to get through to the other caller. But they sounded so far away, as if they were underground, and the crackling on the line reminded you of an old gramophone record playing. And being able to see them on screen? But now, things have all changed, thanks to a company called Skype, and the rise of technology called VOIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol). Our infographic today shows the rise of Skype and how it is being used today.

Daily Infographic | A New Infographic Every Day | Data Visualization, Information Design and Infographics | page 39 In honor of the final episode of Breaking Bad that aired this week, let’s give a shout out to breakfast–the most important meal of the day–and by far, Walt Jr.’s favorite. Today’s infographic explores more than just bacon and eggs. It gives us a look at dining tables of breakfast eaters from around the world. Australians apparently prefer a brown spread called Vegemite on their toast in the morning; the Japanese enjoy soy beans on rice; the Moroccans like lamb stew; and Argentineans frequently sip Yerba Mate–a delicious, highly caffeinated tea. And I couldn’t profess my love for breakfast properly without acknowledging a Texas favorite, the all-mighty and powerful breakfast taco. We’ve also probably all heard that in order to start your day right you need to eat a healthy breakfast. And let’s not forget that winter is approaching. Flirting w/ eLearning First things first, I’m really glad to finally be writing a new blog post because I realize it’s been over a month since I’ve posted and I feel very guilty about it! October was pretty hectic due to the fact that I was attending DevLearn 2012 in Las Vegas. I am actually planning on writing a post about my experience at DevLearn in the near future since it was both my first time attending a conference and my first time public speaking/presenting. It was a great experience and a lot of new lessons learned for me. That being said, I was recently inspired to write this latest blog post from something that occurred at work! I’ve come to find out that adding audio to an e-learning project is not a decision that should be taken lightly. INFOGRAPHIC : Printing The Human Body We are heading into an era of huge technological advances and achievements, especially in the field of medicine. Problems and conditions that may have literally been the death of you a hundred years ago may now be cured, simply by taking advantage of the latest medical technological breakthroughs. And 3D printing may have a huge part in that. James has already introduced us to the concept of 3D printing (check out his other 3D printing articles here, here and here), but one area which he did not touch on was bioprinting. This is the concept of using 3D printing to make human tissue and organs. Today’s infographic shows the printing process for creating human cells. Let us know what you think of the infographic. Do You Share Too Much on Social Media? [INFOGRAPHIC] Sharing is the basis of social media, and it can be a beautiful thing. Keeping up with family and friends as kids grow, relationships become marriages and adventures are had — social media can be tons of fun and helps us feel connected to one another. But when does all that sharing become too much? And when can what you share online actually become dangerous? A recent study commissioned by Intel found that 90% of American adults think people share too much, and nearly half of adults find the deluge of information to be overwhelming. The abundance of information isn't just annoying — it can also make overeager posters targets for scams and other crimes. 4.8 million broadcast when they're leaving the house, 4.7 million about health conditions, 4.6 million about their love lives and 2.6 million about alcohol use, according to that study. How can sharing this kind of information become problematic? Do you think people share too much online or are concerns overblown?
Tessie Girl: The Stephen King Universe Flow Chart UPDATE: The Stephen King Universe Flowchart (including The Dark Tower Series) has been updated and can be found here When I was in Grade 5 (guess I was ten), my friend Tarnya Smyth brought her mum's battered copy of Stephen King's 'Carrie' to school. We broke it into about 4 pieces and passed them around, all taking turns reading each battered section. I told mum about it and she FLIPPED HER WIG and told me to 'Stop reading that book immediately!!' So I finished it. Now, I TOTALLY do not recommend ten year olds reading Stephen King books (messed me up good), but this was when my life long relationship with Mr King began. My Top Five Stephen King Books:1 The Stand2 The Bachman Books (especially The Long Walk)3 The Talisman 4 The Dead Zone5 11/22/63 CLICK HERE to find out details for UPDATED chart coming soon which TOTALLY includes the Dark Tower :-) See what I do for you guys???
