Exhibitions Distortions, a photographic series by André Kertész Perception of the body can be blurred. Various contemporary photographers express this concept through elaborate processes of distortion. We investigate the origin of this language in the seminal work of André Kertész. Hungarian photographer Kertész (1894 – 1985), a master of photojournalism in the 1900s, creates the series “Distortions” on commission in 1933. It includes 200 female nudes that are the result of optical experiments with reflections and mirrors.

That said, I will try to do what I've done with other photo narratives here, and tell a story of 2008 in photographs. It's not the story of 2008, it's certainly not all stories, but as a collection it does show a good portion of what life has been like over the past 12 months.

Contemporary Art The self-portraits by the Japanese artist Yasumasa Morimura, Requiem for the XX Century: Twilight of the Turbulent Gods, examines an array of historical figures and political events that have been significant in shaping the 20th century. Employing his usual methodology, Morimura uses costumes, make-up and props to create unconventional and bold renderings of iconic images from history. While Morimura’s work has traditionally investigated femininity through iconic depictions of women from art history and popular culture, this body of work examines widely disseminated images of prominent masculine figures from the last century.
