American Scientist Online Science Links - Cybrary Man "I am sure you will agree with me that the Energy Field Seminar was an outstanding educational endeavor. It provided not only an insight into the acquisition, production and transmission of energy, but also into the economic, societal, and environmental implications... It was a distinct pleasure meeting you and having the opportunity to be a co-participant with you in the seminar activities." (from the President - National Science Teachers Association to Cybrary Man) - Note: twenty educators from all across the United States (representing all educational levels) were chosen to participate in a ten day all-expense paid energy seminar in Arizona and New Mexico) Cybrary Man has written educational materials for the utility industry for over 30 years. #scichat #elemsci #middlesci #scistuchat #SciDo Collaborative Science Teachers My Flipped Classroom page Science Fun Scientists Please Help Science Teachers on Social Media

Each story takes just one minute to read and challenges a kid’s knowledge in a variety of science and math disciplines. February's Mystery is "Valentine Vexation" Want more? January's Mystery: "Freeze Fall" December's Mystery: "Getting A Lift"November's Mystery: "The Tune-Up"October’s Mystery: “Halloween Hippie”September’s Mystery: “Getting the Point?” The brainteasers can be used as independent reading for kids, a guessing game for families, a springboard for school projects, a bell ringer for teachers, or an assessment tool for math and science knowledge and literacy.

Rader's BIOLOGY 4 KIDS.COM - Biology basics for everyone! Grand Challenges - Manage the Nitrogen Cycle It doesn’t offer as catchy a label as “global warming,” but human-induced changes in the global nitrogen cycle pose engineering challenges just as critical as coping with the environmental consequences of burning fossil fuels for energy. Why is the nitrogen cycle important? The nitrogen cycle reflects a more intimate side of energy needs, via its central role in the production of food. It is one of the places where the chemistry of the Earth and life come together, as plants extract nitrogen from their environment, including the air, to make food. Nitrogen is an essential component of amino acids (the building blocks of proteins) and of nucleotides (the building blocks of DNA), and consequently is needed by all living things. Such microbes commonly live in soil, and sometimes live symbiotically in roots of certain plants. What is wrong with the nitrogen cycle now? Such human activity has doubled the amount of fixed nitrogen over the levels present during pre-industrial times. References
