I used No. 10 cotton, and a cro-tat hook for that size thread. For the "crochet" functions, you will use the hook. Begin with a normal first crochet loop. Begin the Ring (R) on the shaft of the hook: A tatting stitch is a two-part double hitch stitch (ds). Second half of the double hitch stitch (ds): wrap the thread over finger from the back as shown, pick thread up and off the finger onto shaft; slide loop thus made down to the first half of the stitch. Make another double hitch stitch (ds). Now make a picot (p). Now to use the hook! Chain 5 (ch 5). That's it!

I got a gig teaching a recycled t-shirt project at the library a few months ago, with a request for a recycled tee bag – the only bags I’d made from tees in the past had required sturdy sewing, and I didn’t want hand-sewing to be the only thing holding the bottom closed in a class version of the bags, so I started brainstorming about some kind of hand-sewing-friendly or no-sew bag idea…. and here’s what I came up with! The simplest version of these bags is great for smaller tees, or the more light-weight kind of girl-tees – just turn the bottom of the shirt into a drawstring and tie it closed! As you can see, even with a not huge tee, this will still leave a significant hole in the bottom of your bag, but for purposes like grocery shopping, this size hole shouldn’t really matter… But to make smaller holes, just make more than one of them! And now for the actual tutorial – for this one, with the step-by-step, I will be making the bottom with 3 holes. My finished Sonic bag!

These are great project for sprucing up your home and make the perfect hostess or housewarming gift. Of course, we recommend bringing a full six-pack as well. Materials: - empty beer bottles - spray paint - painter’s tape - puff paint First, wash out those bottles! Now, set up your workstation. Spray your first bottle. See how lovely even just the plain old bottle looks dolled up in spray paint? To take it to the next level, grab your painter’s tape and start making patterns. Voila! Next, we’ll help you take your bottle not only to the next level but to another dimension! Use puff paint to create dotted designs that pop out from the bottle. Ta-dah! Now you’ve got all your bottles ready to go, what are your going to put in them? The answers?
The Technique Zone: Acrylic Paint Transfer Supplies needed: Acrylic dabbers, photocopy of an image, water spritzer bottle, paintbrush, card stock, craft sheet and heat tool (optional) Take the lid off the dabbers and brush the paint onto the card stock, ensure you get a good coverage Take your photocopied image ( remember that you will get a reverse of the image, so don't use bold words), flip it over and place it in the acrylic. Lightly press it down making sure it's smooth and not wrinkled Leave to air dry for at least 15 minutes and then if you wish give it a blast with the heat tool Only move onto this step when you are sure your paint is completely dryTake your water filled spritzer bottle, spray the back of the paper no more than two squirts, you don't want it too wet Next start to rub the paper very gently with your finger Keep rubbing and extra spritzing if you need too Eventually you will get rid of all the paper, but it does take a bit of patience as you have to be careful not to wet it too much and rub the image away

I did a Google search for Nicole Duke’s fall leaf roses and nothing came back directly about her. I LOVE this idea and it reminds me of the flowers my mom showed me how to make when I was a kid using leaves. I can picture these as a table centerpiece for Thanksgiving or an autumn decoration. She used the wrapping floral shops use to keep it all together. You will need: Several leaves for each flower (10-15 various sizes and colors) Short Twigs Floral Tape Scissors Directions: Begin with a smaller leaf. Take a second leaf and fold the center point down. Continue to add leaves, rotating the flower as you go to get an even size. Once you have the desired size, wrap the stems tightly with florist tape. Place a twig on the bottom and wrap with the florist tape. Good luck! Tip: Keep the petals tucked in so that it doesn’t unravel. Related
