I drew the blackout curtain and saw that it was just another dull, gray day, colder than an English spring had any right to be. The streets were empty, and I was alone in the flat I shared with Frank Scherschel on Upper Wimpole Street in London's West End. He had departed — vanished, actually, without saying a word — several days earlier for his battle station, a camouflaged airfield from which he would fly reconnaissance over the English Channel to photograph the largest armada ever assembled. My job was to stay behind, to edit those and other photos for LIFE as picture editor of the London bureau. I dressed as usual in olive drab, turned on the radio, made tea and read the papers, which of course had nothing to report. "Under command of General Eisenhower, Allied naval forces, supported by strong Allied air forces, began landing Allied armies this morning on the northern coast of France." La tentación de existir de Strömholm y Petersen A principios de la década de 1950 el fotógrafo sueco Christer Strömholm se instala en París. Su vivienda está cerca de la Place Blanche, en Montmartre, punto de reunión de un grupo de transexuales del que enseguida se hace amigo y al que decide fotografiar. Dos décadas después Anders Petersen, su alumno de la escuela de fotografía de la Universidad de Estocolmo, se traslada a Hamburgo, donde comienza a frecuentar el Café Lehmitz. Robert Capa 100 "Hi! Jinx" was a national program on NBC radio that was created in 1946 by Jinx Falkenburg and Tex McCrary. The husband and wife team were pioneers of what became to be called the talk show format. Previous attempts to locate this in national radio archives were unsuccessful. This recording is the only known recording of Robert Capa. His first language was Hungarian, but he learned, in order, German, French, Spanish, and English. The interview starts with stories from his recent trip to the USSR with John Steinbeck and then turns to other subjects: poker, the invention of his name, his so-called last image of the war taken of an American soldier killed in Leipzig in April 1945. Bellovy válečné fotografie, které pořizoval fotoaparátem Rolleiflex, jsou uloženy ve sbírkách Kanadské knihovny a archivu v Otavě.[8] Mnoho z původních negativů jeho fotografií jsou v držení kanadských sil Canadian Forces Photo Unit a archivech města Toronta.
