I hope you’ll be as excited about it as I am! ;-) Ever since I started blogging and making my own homemade versions of household products I have wanted to try making SOAP! Let me first dispel some of the silly notions I had about the soap-making process: 1.) 2.) 3.) OK…now that I’ve dispelled some of the “myths” of soap-making….let’s get down to it, shall we? I have to start by PROFUSELY thanking Angela at Living From Scratch for her tutorial. Oh, I forgot to mention, there is one more fairly important piece of equipment that is needed for this particular soap-making endeavor….a crockpot. First thing you have to do if you want to make soap is find a recipe. You can approach this a couple of different ways. So following Angela’s lead…I decided on an 80% olive oil and 20% coconut oil mix for my soap. 12.8 ounces Olive oil3.2 ounces Coconut oil6.0 ounces Water2.2 ounces Lye Are you beginning to see why the SCALE is so important? 1.

We were recently having a lot of trouble finding a good dishwasher detergent that got our dishes clean because nothing else was working. I set out to find my own way to make some and I had a few duds before coming across this one. 1 Cup Borax 1 Cup Washing Soda 1/4 Cup Epsom Salt Lemon Juice First I started by mixing all the powders together. When everything was mixed I put a cup of the powder into a separate bowl and then poured in a little bit of lemon juice. The lemon juice will foam when it hits the powder. So, I had to do a quick fix to get the slider back on track. It seems that it should just slide back on to the tape part, but trust me, it’s an impossible task. Plus, I know that to replace the zipper entirely would take awhile. Replacing an entire zipper means that you have to rip the zipper out of the garment. So, here’s a quick tutorial on fixing this broken zipper and getting it back on track. First, you have to get the zipper slider back on track. Slide the zipper slider all the way down. You’ll notice that there is an opening when zipped. Using a needle and thread, you will make a temporary stop for the zipper slider.
