Ses sérigraphies de vedettes de cinéma ont fait le tour de la planète. Au départ, un « artiste commercial » Andy Warhol, de son vrai nom Andrew Warhola, est né à Pittsburgh en 1928. Il commence sa carrière en devenant dessinateur publicitaire à New-York, ville qui l’inspirera fortement. Un thème de travail complètement nouveau Warhol choisit de reproduire les produits de grande consommation en sérigraphie. En 1962, il revisite les photos de stars comme la désormais célèbre série de Marilyn Monroe. Un businessman Doté d’un bon sens des affaires, il recrute en 1963 un bataillon d’assistants, auquel il délègue la production en série de ses créations. « J'ai commencé comme artiste commercial et je veux terminer comme artiste d' affaires » déclara-t-il.
