I have a cure; a secret that I stumbled on this year! I have been using coconut oil in my personal skin care since I was 16. In a desperate search to find a cure for my brittle hair, I came across a few articles recommending coconut oil as a moisture treatment. Scoop out a handful of organic virgin coconut oil. Flip your head upside down and slowly spread the oil through your hair. Once your hair is soaked with oil, twist your hair into a bun or ponytail. Cover your hair with a shower cap. Once your time is up wash and condition your hair as you normally would. This treatment can be done as often or little as you feel you need. Like This Post?

How To Use Aloe Vera Gel On Hair Aloe vera gel is commonly used as a moisturizer for skin because it can help trap and lock in moisture. Aloe vera gel can be purchased from many stores -- especially health food outlets -- and can be used on its own or mixed with other products for hair application. These products will also help keep your hair moisturized, which will help prevent damage and keep your hair from drying out. Make aloe vera shampoo. The easiest way to do this is to take 1 tablespoon of commercially available aloe vera gel and add it to 8 ounces of shampoo (of your choosing). Make a light aloe vera conditioner. Make a deep-clean conditioner. Use as a "leave-in" conditioner. Use as a styling product.

Burn Notice: Fix Hair Damaged from Beauty Tools One of the many great things about summer is that its casual vibe allows you to wash and go, giving your hair a much-needed break from abusive heat styling. But when winter returns, most women bust out the hair dryer and flattening iron. "You're more likely to load up on treatments such as hair coloring and chemical straightening in the winter months—especially around the holidays," says Los Angeles–based hairstylist Michael Shaun Corby. Chemical Damage Too many chemical treatments, like highlights and hair straightening, sap strands of natural moisture, leaving them dull and brittle. How to heal: Do a steam treatment once a week to help open the cuticles and let your conditioner really seep in to rehab your hair, says New York City colorist Rita Hazan. Heat Damage Hot tools such as hair dryers and curling irons fry off your hair's cuticles, the first line of defense against dryness, leaving the cortex exposed. If you flatiron, go over each section just once, and turn down the heat.

Sea of Shoes: HAIR HOW-TO I am sometimes asked how I style my hair, and while my method is far from perfect, I thought I'd show you how! My hair is pretty straight and fine naturally and I always let it air dry. Since I go about three days between washes, I like to curl it on the first day and let it mellow out into some nice waves over the next two. Let's get started! If your hair doesn't hold curl very well then you may want to put a palmful of curling mousse in it when it is halfway dry. First I comb out all of the tangles and apply a liberal amount CHI Iron Guard Protection Spray to prep my hair. (though I want to upgrade to one of the fancy new ones from Sultra soon!) When I'm done curling the bottom section, I mist it with Bumble and bumble Spray de Mode and comb through the curl with my fingers. Ahh!! If you want to dress it up a little, you can do a braided headband look! Find a spot on the opposite side of your head and pin it so that it blends in naturally with the rest of your hairstyle.

Homemade Hair Treatments - At Home DIY Hair Treatments Eggs, yogurt and honey are, at first glance, all components of a tasty breakfast—but they also happen to be hair treatment ingredients, and affordable, all-natural ones at that. And they're not the only ones. Did you know, for instance, that the oils in avocados more closely resemble our own skin's oils than any product in the beauty aisle does? Or that the mild acidity in lemon is an effective—and gentler—alternative to chemical-laden products? For All Hair Types "The [raw] egg is really the best of all worlds," says Janice Cox, author of Natural Beauty at Home. To Use: For normal hair, use the entire egg to condition hair; use egg whites only to treat oily hair; use egg yolks only to moisturize dry, brittle hair, Cox says. Photo by Shutterstock. For Dull Hair Styling products (as well as air pollution) can leave a film that both saps moisture and dulls shine—but dairy products like sour cream and plain yogurt can help reverse this damage. How-To: The Cascade/Waterfall Braid The waterfall braid also known as the cascade braid recently exploded as the new "trend braid" of the season. The waterfall effect looks cool and complex, but it's easier to style than you think. Give this beautiful braid a try when Beautylish takes you through the how-to! Section Off The waterfall braid works best on straight or loose waves. Brush out all the knots with a wide tooth comb. Braid As Usual Braid your strands regularly three times, beginning from the right strand. Drop the Strand This is where it gets tricky. Step and Repeat Repeat this process—French braid the left strand, drop the right strand, and pick up an adjacent new piece. Pin and Secure Once you've reached a comfortable point to stop your braid, secure it to your scalp with bobby pins. Fishtail It! Braid the remaining piece of hair left from your cascade into a fishtail braid. Accessorize Add a cute bow or flower to hide your bobby pins and give this look some extra hair flair.
