How To Make A Stylish Photo Frame For Several Photos Here is a simple yet stylish photo frame that can accomodate quite many photos at once. The idea is very simple. Fasten twines on the empty frame and hang photos using clothes pins on them. You can use a frame you bought or a frame you made by yourself. wind-up paper butterflies are my fave (guest post from amelia) I had a baby so I’ve invited some fave guests to take over for me while I spend time with the little guy. Today’s post is from super crafter and cute mom, Amelia of The Homebook. Growing up, I had an aunt who lived in Canada. I made my butterflies into Monarchs, but you could use different materials to create any sort of colorful butterfly. Materials: You’ll need heavy cardstock, 24 gauge wire, silicone rubber bands (I found mine in the hair aisle at Walgreens) needle-nose pliers, scissors, tape, a paintbrush, a black marker, and a white ink pen. Step 1: Measure and cut your wire. Step 2: Find the center of the longer wire. Step 5: Find the center of the shorter wire, and wrap it around the base of the paintbrush. Step 8: Draw the shape of your wings and cut them out. Step 11: Tape each wing to the body of the butterfly. Thanks for the chance to finally figure out how these darned things are made, Melanie! Little Wishes Well, we are dusting off our obligatory black armband over in Beyond Beyond land for one of our most favourite shops ever – Early Bright (mega sad face) they have been the purveyors of some delicious and inspirational bling that is more art than jewellery. And we just want to share one of the most beautiful pieces every a wish in a jar. We used to shake dandelion bushes when we were little in the vain belief that we would get a Barbie dream house, Michael Jackson tickets, the ability to breakdance overnight (although we never progressed beyond being able to do backspins), millionaire moolah, or our favourite wish was that we had been dropped off at the wrong house (sorry parental units) and we were really the offspring of some family with the financial clout of Daddy Warbucks and the Rothschild’s combined. Carambola Flowers by Carmen Sprung If you’ve been following me on Flickr for a while, you’ve probably seen this picture of Carambola Flowers before – I folded them ages ago! But since my Pro account is going to expire in a few days time (and I don’t feel like upgrading it again), a lot of my old photos won’t be displayed anymore. So I decided it would be a good idea to share the very best of them on my blog! These absolutely beautiful origami flowers were designed by Carmen Sprung and I just love them! She was making these super cute envelopes out of scrapbook paper and I really wanted to make some! So I came home and made some! They are so so SO simple and add a personal touch to your envelopes. You will need: An old magazine, scissors, an envelope, a glue stick and a Sharpie. Tear out some magazine pages that you like. Carefully pull the envelope apart. Trace the envelope on a magazine page. Cut the envelope shape out. Turn the envelope over as well as the magazine cut-out. Unfold everything and separate the magazine cut-out from the envelope. Glue the bottom flap down to the two side flaps. And you've made your own envelope! The great thing about making these envelopes our of magazine pages is that the envelopes have a character all of their own.
Martin's View: Neil Diamond - On The Way To The Sky Happy seventy-first birthday today (January 24th) to American singer-songwriter and 2011 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Neil Diamond (a long deserved honor, in my opinion). Continuing off the successful momentum of 1980’s The Jazz Singer soundtrack (click here for my review of that album), Neil Diamond followed it with his fourteenth album On The Way To The Sky in November of 1981. The album reached number 17 on the US Billboard Hot 200, number 39 on the UK album charts, number 12 on the Australian charts, and number 11 on the New Zealand charts. Side one begins with “Yesterday’s Songs”, the first single from the album. Released a few weeks before the album, it climbed all the way up to number 11 on the US Billboard Top 40 and achieved the number 1 spot on the US Adult Contemporary charts. This mid-tempo tune is one of those I heard so often on the Top 40 radio back in the early 80’s, so much so that I could sing along to it. “Be Mine Tonight” was the third single from the album.
