Rutan Voyager - Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum
On December 23, 1986, Voyager completed the first nonstop, non-refueled flight around the world. Voyager, a unique aircraft constructed almost entirely of lightweight graphite-honeycomb composite materials and laden with fuel, lifted from Edwards AFB, California at 8:01:44 a.m., Pacific Standard Time, on Dec. 14 1986, and returned 9 days later at 8:05:28 a.m., Pacific Standard Time on Dec. 23, 1986. For their record-breaking flight, the pilots, Dick Rutan and Jeana Yeager, the designer, Burt Rutan, and the crew chief, Bruce Evans, earned the Collier Trophy, aviation's most prestigious award.

Introduction At the Summit of the Americas held in Miami from December 9th through 11th, 1994, the leaders of all the nations in the Western Hemisphere except Cuba agreed to begin negotiating a treaty to create a Free Trade Area of the Americas (FTAA) to be ready for signature by 2005. To speed up the process leading to such a FTAA, it was initially suggested that the current assortment of sub-regional economic integration projects in Latin America and the Caribbean be used as the foundation blocs to be eventually incorporated into the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA)1. However, a noticeable lack of United States leadership in the creation of a FTAA following the Summit in Miami in 1994, and rapidly changing events in Latin America since then, killed this so-called "hub and spoke" approach to the economic integration of the Western Hemisphere. Portfolio Reflection
Organizing the core elements of my professional life as an educator into a single comprehensive document, structured as a professional portfolio, has truly been a growth experience for me. All of the thoughts, ideas, passions, and perspectives were in my head somewhere, but it was both challenging and rewarding to examine them in depth and state them in so many words. The portfolio itself was originally created as part of the Master of Arts in Teaching and Learning program at Nova Southeastern University, which I completed in 2003.

What are e-Portfolios?
An e-portfolio is a purposeful aggregation of digital items – ideas, evidence, reflections, feedback etc, which ‘presents’ a selected audience with evidence of a person’s learning and/or ability.Sutherland and Powell (2007) If portfolios are ‘simply a collection of documents relating to a learner’s progress, development and achievements’ (Beetham 2005) then e-portfolios could be defined as simply digital collections of these documents. However, ideas of what an e-portfolio ‘is’ are complex and to an extent the definition and purpose will vary depending on the perspective from which a particular person is approaching the concept. Consensus is beginning to grow as experience of e-portfolios develops which will help converge these different ideas and definitions.
