Turn On, Code In, Drop Out: Tech Programmers Dont Need College Diplomas - Technology David King got his start as a professional programmer working odd jobs. He took on small software projects, set up networks, that sort of thing. For fun in his spare time he’d contribute to the open-source operating system FreeBSD—a pastime many developers consider the most thankless job ever. People started to notice. While there are a few high-level computer-science concepts that require a college education to master, King says, 90 percent of developers won’t use that knowledge in their day jobs. That process is fine for most industries—a Harvard-educated accountant is a lot more likely to be a good hire then a self-taught one. As programmers become the backbone of the business world and the tech industry embarks on a bubble-driven hiring blitz, that thinking is going to have to change. It’s a good time to be a developer. The demand starts at the top. While the industry is growing exponentially, it’s also becoming highly segmented. Developers have an attractive menu of options.

Ultimate Guide to Rooting and Overclocking your Bell Desire Z. NEWB Friendly! Hi, I spent a bit of time figuring out what worked for the Bell Z and which methods would be the best and easiest to follow. Below is a complete step-by-step guide I pieced together using info from XDA to hopefully make it very easy for you to root your Z and then overclock (keeping the stock kernel). Enjoy! Step 1: Rooting the Desire Z *This is based on the work of qpop of XDA Developers and Modaco developers* 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. On my computer it was: Code: cd c:\Users\Karl\Downloads/android-sdk_r07-windows\android-sdk-windows\tools\DZ_G2_Uberroot Then type adb install com.modaco.visionaryplus.r14.apk ADB will install the apk to your phone. 9. 10. adb shell su exit exit If the cursor becomes # after su, we have root. 11. adb push gfree /data/local adb shell su cd /data/local chmod 777 gfree . This turns off your security options of the loader (S-OFF) and superCID and simlock Exit shell by typing:12. You should now have a super user access app/icon in your app menu.

Treasures Ministries: The Sex Industry Isnt the Problem | Treasures The Sex Industry Isn’t the Problem This morning on my way to drop my daughter off at pre-school, I passed by a girl I can only assume was working the Sepulveda track. I say this because nobody else was wearing stilettos, micro mini cut off shorts and no jacket at 8am in 45-degree weather. When she stopped on the corner, a man waiting for his bus looked at her as he would a store window. She pretended not to notice him. Her job is not to see, but to be seen. I could almost hear the grooming that led her to that corner, echoing the same grooming I experienced. And all this, a product of our culture, which tells us that beauty is a bill of goods. Many of us are so trained in this way of thinking that when someone doesn’t objectify us, we wonder if something is wrong. I see this often in the women I have the honor of mentoring. People often ask me if I am anti-sex industry. But I would even venture to say that the sex industry isn’t the problem. Love, Harmony Dust www.iamatreasure.com

Aces Wild The New York Times has called it “the country’s most original hotel” and at the pulse of the Ace Hotel brand stands Alex Calderwood, one of the boutique’s owners. With four unique properties throughout the USA, Calderwood’s vision was distinctively different (and not always calculated) to provide a different look, tone, feel, and voice for the hipper-than-hip spots. Here, Calderwood talks about the inspiration behind his Seattle, Portland, Palm Springs, and New York gathering spots. Seattle “With Seattle, there was a naivety that served us well because we had never done a hotel so we did it our way, not knowing the traditional way to do it. We had very little money to work with so we had to be resourceful – but often that leads to interesting places.”

New Car-Share Service Lets Your Rent Your Wheels For Extra Cash Photo by Alex92287 via Flickr Creative Commons One of our favorite alternatives to hotels is Airbnb, a service that lets you rent out your extra bed to weary travelers to make a little extra cash and helps the traveler save money. It's a peer-based product service system that makes the best use of available resources, and it's smart thinking. That's essentially the model behind a new car-sharing service called GetAround, which has just launched into Beta mode. GetAround is insured by a Fortune 500 carrier, screen all the participants in the program, and claim that by renting your car for 15 hours a week you can earn as much as $350. GetAround also claim that each car shared is equivalent to getting 10 cars off the road and reducing emissions by 40%. We love the idea, and we're curious to see how GetAround will do as it gets rolling.
