Avec la Fédération Internet Nouvelle Génération (Fing), qui s’intéresse de près au développement des Fab Labs dans le monde, l’EPPS souhaite que nous définissions le contenu et le modèle économique du Fab Lab du cluster de Saclay. The Maker Movement Preface I’ve been so busy making making things, making a hackerspace at FamiLAB, making a Maker Faire, talking about Making our Community better, and launching a maker-focused foundation that I don’t update this page often enough… I originally wrote this because I was constantly answering “What is a Maker?” – but I don’t get the question anymore – and that is a good thing. Fab lab Un fab lab ou fablab[1] (contraction de l'anglais fabrication laboratory, « laboratoire de fabrication ») est un tiers-lieu de type makerspace[2] cadré par le Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) et la FabFoundation[3] en proposant un inventaire minimal[4] permettant la création des principaux projets fab labs, un ensemble de logiciels et solutions libres et open-sources, les Fab Modules[5], et une charte de gouvernance, la Fab Charter[6]. Pour être identifié en tant que fab lab par la FabFoundation, il faut passer par plusieurs étapes de certification[7]. Les personnes intéressées peuvent également suivre une formation à la Fab Academy, qui donne des cours sur la fabrication numérique et les technologies associées[8]. Les fab labs forment un réseau mondial dynamique de fabrication numérique, composé de plus de 2 000 laboratoires à travers le monde, dont la mission principale est de démocratiser les processus de fabrication manufacturiers[9].
